Hi, welcome to our Lane and Russell page! We are hoping that with your support we will be able to raise the money we need to finish the production of The Everyday Adventures of Lane & Russell, a short film about the not-so-everyday life of two loveable dysfunctional characters.
The Everyday Adventures of Lane & Russell is an off-the-wall comedy about two friends who just don’t have a good grasp of everyday life. This short film will entertain you and take you for a ride. The Lane& Russell movie is a humorous film about life, friendship and sometimes, idiocy.
What’s the Movie About?
The Everyday Adventures of Lane & Russell takes a peek into the world of two odd friends. Lane is a borderline sociopath who ironically does not even possess the practical daily skills of a 5th grader. He relies on his best friend Russell to drive him to work! He constantly abuses Russell who despite an obvious lack of social skills can evenly go with the flow whether good, bad, great or terrible. He has this unique ability to along with everything. Despite their great differences though, this the have been best friends since grade school, but life has its strange ways of testing how their friendship will survive when life as they know it changes. This film grabs the hilarity of Napoleon Dynamite, the heart of Forrest Gump and the humorous absurdity of Dumb and Dumber.
This is a movie about friendship between two people who despite all their differences have managed to create an endearing and enduring friendship. It’s a story of an idiot and a sociopath who can’t go through life without each other. It’s that unique relationship that causes all the havoc and riot in their not-so-everyday life. It’s a lighthearted comedy that shows how friendship can bring out the best and worst in everyone. It is not your typical film. It does not follow patterns and tones of typical movies. It is definitely one of a kind!
What Will Your Funds Go Towards?
The Everyday Adventures of Lane & Russell is a very ambitious short film. We completed a lengthy pre-production process focusing heavily each of these elements: concept art and photography, story boarding, costume design, casting, location scouting and production design. This was done to create a very unique visual style and "world" of the film. All of the outdoor scenes have been shot, and this accounts for about 30 % of the film. We did this because we found the perfect young actor, Austin Rawlins, to play the role of Billy Johnson. And, knowing this would be a lengthy process, we didn't want to lose our window of opportunity of him being the perfect age for the part.
The rest of the film consists of all interior scenes which require a much larger production effort. The scale of the rest of the script is much larger. We will have 10 primary, speaking characters and at least 15 - 20 extras.
We are estimating 6 production days needed to complete the shoot. The budget will go towards:
- Equipment Rental such as: RED camera, lenses, steadicam, 3 ton grip truck, lighting, steadicam, and audio equipment
- Crew
- Crew & Actor Travel and Accomodations - The actors in the key roles are coming in from various cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta. Also, key crew members are coming in from various cities around the state.
The expenses of an ambitious, large cast, big interior location film add up quickly. But, will be well worth it as we bring this unique world of Lane & Russell to life. Your pledges will go towards helping us complete the production and post-production of the film.

Because you can’t go wrong with laughter and humor. The Everyday Adventures of Lane & Russell will have you laughing and chuckling out loud from beginning to end. This is just one short but seriously funny movie. Like every other filmmaker out there, we hope that our film will find its audience, but we have no way of telling that if will happen for sure. So, we are now looking for our audience – YOU – and involving you in the creation of this film. We firmly believe in this film. We have always dreamed that one day we would bring this film to life and have people laughing over the antics of Lane and Russell.
Lane and Russell is going to be a short film, but we believe that in that short span of time, these two characters will endear themselves to you with their weirdness, humor and strong bond of friendship. They were born almost ten years ago when for pure laughs when two friends in college decided to do a little improvisation. Over the years, Lane and Rusell have become well-developed characters who really need to have their story told. It took us almost a decade to do just that - tell their story. And we believe you will love their story.
