Our Inspiration

TypeMe is a project inspired by Jason MacKenzie, who has lived with Type-1 Diabetes since the age of 11. Through his challenging experiences of breaking down limitations set upon him by the condition, he has radically transformed the perspective of what it means to live with Type-1 diabetes. Out of 20 million people who have been diagnosed with it, its highly unlikely that he is the only one doing so.

This film is about bringing people with similar stories together. It's about creating an interactive outlet of support and validating their choices to live. This is the TypeMe Project.

Diabetes 101

Type-1 Diabetes is diagnosed in about 20 million people worldwide and is an autoimmune disease. The body's defense system unfortunately attacks itself at the site of the pancreas where insulin is produced. Type-1 usually takes the backseat to the lesser life threatening, Type-2 Diabetes. Type-2  is not an autoimmune disease. It is a metabolic disorder primarily cause by lifestyle and diet. These diseases are more or less entirely different. The fact that they have the same name is the root to creating a shadow of awareness over Type-1. We hope to going to fix that by creating this film.

Funding & Rewards

We need $7000 for the production of this film. The road is our main aspect to fund as well as some equipment costs. We already have a rolodex of people with amazing stories, so we'll be hitting the ground running.
