About this project
Hi and thanks for reading. I'm Scott Janovitz and I need your help to complete and promote the first LP from my band, The Russians. Go ahead, take a taste:
Crashing the Party:

Talking to Yourself:

As you can hear, The Russians' music springs from a love of classic pop, from The Beatles to Big Star, Elvis Costello to Radiohead, and Teenage Fanclub to The Shins. The new record will maintain that pop blissfulness while updating the vibe with some sonic-electronic experimentation. It promises to be both delicious and groovy. If you find it neither delicious nor groovy, I’ll give you your money back. No, not true, I will be keeping your money. But you will get something in return. In addition to the personal satisfaction of having furthered the noble cause of pop art, I'm offering a whole bunch of spectacularly tangible rewards, dependent upon your level of support. Over there to your right, see?
So what do I need? Well, the recording of this album is basically done. But I need to raise funds to make CDs, produce a vinyl run, and hire radio promoters and public relations relators. And, of course, I'd like to pay the band to help support the record with live shows.
This is a weird time in the music business, but the upshot is that there are more opportunities to DIY than ever before. Of course, more opportunity means more and more music flooding the field. This is where you can help - an opportunity for people like you to help good music be heard and to usher in a new era in which music fans have the power.
So thanks for reading and please pledge whatever you can. It will go a long way. Become all that you can be. Become a Russian.

Head Russian Scott Janovitz will produce your record! We can work together to determine a schedule to complete a ten song LP. If you don't have a band, I'll help you get one together. And I promise not to go all Phil Spector on you, though I will definitely be wearing a wig.

I'm Scott Janovitz, writer, musician, producer/engineer, studio owner, lover, fighter, fan, award winner, biter, captain of industry.
In addition to my band The Russians, I am co-frontman of a rocking little combo called The Great Bandini, and I have toured with the great Graham Parker, Tommy Stinson, The Confidence Men, The Figgs, and Garvy J. What can I say, I like to play. Hey. Anyway...
My songs have been selected by Toyota and Absolut Vodka for promos, and one of them was named "best song" at last year's Boston Music Awards. The Russians were also recently featured as a CMJ.com spotlight artist. I am reserving space in my trophy case for further honors and accolades.
