About this project
I will produce three separate 30-second PSAs/Political ads that address current issues of national importance in the United Stares. My politics are liberal, so expect the ads to be of that leaning. We plan to distribute them on the web via YouTube, Funny or Die, and other video, comedy and political blogs.
I have written a political ad that addresses the closing of Guantanamo Bay and calls attention to the hypocrisy elected officials and the US government are exhibiting by trying to pawn these detainees off onto other countries, without trial or oversight. The ad is respectful and tasteful, with tongue-in-cheek humor. I am currently writing two other political ads that address two other separate current affairs issues. The intent and underlying messaging will be the same for all three ads: exposing hypocrisy, promoting transparency in government, and policy change.
The funds I raise will go to production and post-production costs. This includes tape stock, equipment rental, transportation, per diem for volunteer crew, location fees, etc. Myself, along with an professional editor friend of mine are doing this pro-bono, so the fundraising goal DOES NOT include fees for our time and labor. This project is a labor of love (we just don't want to go into debt).
