This Sunday night I'll be making a return appearance on Chris Payne's "Local 101" show on Q101 (101.1). I'll be making the (last minute) case for the book and then retreating into a quiet corner to cross my fingers and quietly mutter to myself as the end grows near.

With less than two weeks to go, I have some more media interviews on the way about the "Chicago Rocked" fundraising effort.
Tomorrow (9/2/09):
I'll be on Eight Forty-Eight on WBEZ (91.5 FM, wbez.org) between 9-10 a.m. The show will also be rebroadcast between 8-9 p.m. tomorrow night.
Thursday (9/3/09) I'll be on "Outside the Loop Radio" on WLUW (88.7 FM, outsidetheloopradio.com) Thursday at 10 a.m.

These waning days of the Chicago Rocked effort are critical! Please let everyone you know how they can be part of it. I'm confident we can do this.

In four days, the pledge drive for "Chicago Rocked" will be 33% over. Pacing's a bit off (almost at 20%), so I decided to get things moving a bit.

Here's what I'm going to do:

If I can hit 50% by 11:59 p.m. next Monday (7/13), I will create a special, seamless 60-minute mix of 90s Chicago music for BACKERS ONLY (including all who've backed the project already).

Help me hit the halfway goal by Monday and feel good about contributing to a book that needs to be published and read. There's a reward structure for contributors already in place--make a donation; get something in return!

VanOsdol Will Be On Q101 July 5th
Long-time CHICAGO radio vet JAMES VANOSDOL is writing a book, the working title is "CHICAGO ROCKED! 1990-1999." VANOSDOL, who worked at Alternative WKQX, Alternative-Active Rock WZZN (now-defunct) and AAA WXRT, has spent the past several years writing -- pulling together hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews and stories from the artists, label owners, studio engineers, club owners, and scenesters who made the CHICAGO music scene "happen" in the 90s.

Currently an Affiliate Mgr. for EMMIS/CHICAGO, VANOSDOL intends to self-publish the book using the social network site KICKSTARTER. VANOSDOL is seeking help from the community to cover all the expenditures for the project in order to finance the book and get it into stores and AMAZON by SUMMER 2010.
