We harvest pure flake finishing salt straight from Oregon’s cold waters using traditional methods.
Oregon's First Salt Harvesting Facility since Lewis & Clark
People have harvested salt from the oceans nearly as long as we’ve walked the earth. Salt is one of those completely transcendent ingredients in the culinary world. It is used in nearly everything and is an often-overlooked ingredient that can make all the difference in the world. It’s generally inexpensive, yet can completely transform a meal. Great finishing salt is harvested all over the world, and is used by celebrated chefs and home cooks alike. However, almost none of this salt comes from the United States.

We’ve Had Some Early Success.
I’ve harvested salt for fun for nearly three years. When I heard about a new vendor fair at New Seasons Markets (a sustainably-focused local grocery chain in Portland, OR) I decided to see if there was interest in my product. New Seasons loved the salt, and ordered a case for each store! It was at that point that I realized I could focus on shifting from hobby to business.
Six months later, after an incredibly positive article in the Oregonian newspaper and a holiday rush like no other, I distinctly remember delivering five cases to each of 12 stores, only to have stores call me back within the hour saying they had sold out, and needed more. We now sell in 49 stores in the Portland area, and we would love to bring our finishing salt to the rest of the Northwest, and beyond.

Salt Harvesting Is A Lost Craft: We’re Focused On Rekindling It
In The US.
Our goal is to produce the best finishing salt in North America, and eventually, the world. It’s a bold goal, but we’re excited to rise to the challenge. So far, we’re thankful for the praise our salt has received from Mark Bitterman, author of the James Beard Award-winning Salted: A Manifesto on the World's Most Essential Mineral, and owner of The Meadow (Portland, OR and New York, NY). We think this is just the beginning.
Creating Oregon Coast Jobs That Are Desperately Needed.
Not only are we producing finishing salt right here in the US, but it's also some of the best in North America. It is our goal to make Oregon, the Northwest, and the US proud of the great finishing salts we produce. With this expansion comes an opportunity for an entire new industry to take hold. While our current size only makes a small impact, the potential for large scale economic impact is undeniable.

For your support, we would love to offer a few small tokens of gratitude, and a taste of what’s to come.
