Thanks Pauahilani! And another good update is on it's way. Mind taking a moment to leave us a review or rating in the App Store?

With each upgrade this app just gets better and better. I'm loving it!
I got mine today! Thanks!
All the umbrellas are in the mail and it looks like umbrella people in the US should get them on Monday.
Umbrellas? Did I miss an update? Love the app!
I have received my TShirt, but not thedownload link---how do I get it? Thanks.
I am loving your app, so happy I backed it. Congratulations to you all.
Hawaii finally got updated. I am very pleased with the results. I works on my iPhone and my iPad 2.
While I have been enjoying using the app, it isn't always accurate. And... that I can buy it so much cheaper from the app store than I pledged is a real bummer.
Disappointed for a couple of reasons. Although the app seems to work okay on my iPhone, it's frustrating that lack of iPad 1 support wasn't communicated earlier.
The bigger problem to me is that the app is now $3.99 vs the $15 backers paid. Usually backers get a discount because they're helping turn an idea into reality. I feel the right thing for Adam and Jack to do is give backers a couple of more copies of Dark Sky to give away to family and friends. This would help spread the word as well as lessen the sting of the severe price drop and lack of support for the original iPad.
Pauahilani: Hawaii (and Alaska) support is coming with the next update, which should hit the App Store in a few days!
I am very disappointed with this ap. Does it work in Hawaii? It loads forever and I still get absolutely nothing.
Raining on me... Weather.com radar shows rain.. Dark Sky shows nothing. Seal Beach California. :-(
We had just a bit of "weather" the other day & I could see the app working -- trying hard to find that *tiny* bit of drizzle! I'm looking forward to summer when we often have thunderstorms to give it a good workout -- that's when it'll be *really* useful to me.
Ditto to the comments of Kjell and Eddie Sutton: a major disappointment that it won't work on the iPad 1. I'd still have supported it, for the idea and the apparent elegance of the execution -- but it would have been nice if you'd been more complete and thoughtful in describing its requirements.
Hey Adam & Jack - Congratulations! Any chance for an Android version? (Don't use my iPod Touch as much as my Android) Thanks!
Dark sky looks great.
I say looks because I have an iPad 1 and iPhone 3GS, so I can't use it. Here's to the next version running on old hardware. Even if half-assedly.
Dark Sky saved me some trouble this weekend. I was out at the park with my kids and we started hearing thunder. I quickly brought out Dark Sky as other parents were hustling their kids back to their cars. Dark Sky estimated we had half an hour before the rain hit. I told my kids we'd leave in 15 minutes. We had the playground to ourselves for a good ten minutes before I said it was time to go. We got to the car and a soaking rain hit five minutes later. You nailed that one Dark Sky!!
Since the update I downloaded a few days ago my iPhone goes to the location selection screen when I tap the radar button. Haven't tested this on the iPad.
I have to say I'm pretty disappointed that the the first generation iPad isn't supported. I understand that your application processes a lot of data client side, but couldn't you just allow it to run, even sluggishly, on that device?
I finally received a valid redeemable download code for DarkSky for the US iTunes store on Saturday April 21. The distribution of the reward copies of DarkSky obviously could have gone more smoothly than it evidently did. Perhaps the developers were spread a bit too thinly to give the distribution the fuller attention it called for. If you have still not yet received yours, then I suggest clicking on the "send message " link at the top of this page. Of course, I may well have been the very last recipient.
Now it seems to be working but the weather here is too calm!!!
I didn't get my download from iTunes. What now?
I just got the app downloaded---thank you very much..it looks great.
I didn't get the download- I have sent you 2 messages thru Kickstarter , no replies, all I see is my mail getting bounced back to me. Rather annoying!
Arijit
I have gotten it. Radar button does not seem to be working. It is stuck in: “loading”. Not sure if the predictor is working. I am using it on an iPhone 4S
My zip code is 15215
Hi. I never received the download link. Help!
Replying to myself - I manually stopped the app and restarted....working fine! Great work and glad this is up and running. The short term weather functionality is really terrific! :-)
While I super-duper dig the app on the iPhone I am very disappointed it doesn't work on the original iPad. I do love the app - don't get me wrong - but I wish the requirement of the new iOS models was included in the original Kickstarter description. Or even during development when the requirement was realized. Waiting 'til the app is released for us to discover the limitation is, well, kinda rude.
I did not get the link for the app. Apple wants 5.99. I paid 15 last November...
Having lots of trouble getting any radar to load in Boston on my iP4S and iPad2...not sure whether it's the app, the hardware, or what...hoping to be able to get this to work...
To answer another common question: The app is a Universal app, so it should work on your iPhone and iPad and you don't have to pay for it again. Just download it on both devices and you should be good to go!
As always, let me know if you have any problems! adam@darkskyapp.com
Folks who haven't gotten the link to download the app: A couple things:
1) The email should have come from the iTunes Store, not our own email. A few other people had missed it because they were expecting an email from us.
2) Did you check your spam folder and archives?
If you still can't find it, send me an email: adam@darkskyapp.com
Sorry about the problem!
-Adam
my app does not recognize my location and when i try and add it manually it does nothing, and i am located in NJ.
I too did not receive the download link by e-mail, and today's update #8 e-mail has only an no reply e-mail address for contacting the developers for those of us who have not yet received the download link.
Pretty frustrated that I can't use this on my iPad1. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I don't have a device with a front facing camera. Guess I lose for now. Very disappointed.
I used my code for my iPad. Can I get one for my iPhone??
Also, the map for Rockland County, NY looks off. I don't even see the Hudson!
Victor
i did not get the email link to download the app.
I might have missed the email link to download the app. Where can I get it?
Thanks! Love this lil app! But wait--I can't check out Hawaii? Hopefully, this will be resolved soon.
Craig: The front-facing camera thing is dumb, right? Here's the deal: The app is doing a lot of number-crunching on the device itself -- the future radar is all calculated on the fly. Because of that, it only works on newer iPhones (the iPhone 4 and 4S) and newer iPads (the iPad 2 and 3).
But there's no way to restrict the app to only those devices from within the App Store (and if we didn't, lots of people would buy the app not knowing it won't work). All you can do is restrict by specific features like gyroscope or cellular service or front-facing camera. As it turns out, the front facing camera is the only thing that the devices mentioned above have in common.
Is there a reason the app requires a camera for the iPad? Not sure why a weather app would need a front-facing camera for usage which blocks the original iPad from using it?
Gah. I must have missed the iPhone4 or higher restriction. Guess testing will have to wait.
Downloaded the app and have never been more disappointed that the forecast calls for clear skies for the next several days! Can't wait to try it out! Thanks, guys!
LarksHead: Oh! Noted, as we work on version 2.
Thanks. Actually I meant a button that would reset the time-scroll on the Radar map to the current time after I've been exploring ancient history. Roughly the equivalent of pressing "Back", then pressing "Radar" again.
LarksHead: If you press the current location button next to the search field, it'll bring you back to where you started.
Not a cloud in the sky in Richmond, VA today. - Thanks for the serendipitous link to someplace more "interesting"! It looks great!
My only request: a "Now" button on the map to get me back to where I started.
This is wonderful!
Just redeemed and installed it - looks SO fun and cool on the iPhone. Question - will this work on the original iPad? I first attempted to install it on the original iPad and iTunes told me it "needs an iPad with the front facing camera." Is that correct? Or is there some other way I can install it on the original iPad?
Mark: because it only works in the US, we've restricted it to the US store (otherwise we'll get a load of people buying the app without reading the fine print and then not being able to use it). How about this for all our non-US backers:
Why not give your redeem code to a buddy in the US as a gift (because you're awesome). And then when we add coverage for Canada, we'll get you a second copy of the app free-of-charge?
