About this project

I spent the better part of the past 20 years creating music and art, producing beats and solo projects, and rhyming throughout the Midwest. I recorded my first track in 1991, made my first beat in 1990, and made my first video the same year.

But--that was waaay before I knew what I was doing.

Fast forward to today:

This 7" promo would be the realization of a dream of pressing vinyl. In all thistime, I have yet to do that.

Yes, I have released music and been a part of releases by Midwest Avengers, Earthworms (track 10, "Downtown Express"), and Red Zero to name a few. But I have never pressed vinyl. Even my label mates at The Frozen Food Section, have asked: "So, elder statesman. About that vinyl...?"

Most of my work is sample-driven--in terms of instrument creation--and not just loops ('though, a well played loop is a rare but essential beat making skill). I like my drums 'dirty': mostly ripped from old vinyl, clipped into individual sounds, processed and tuned. I usually use these methods to recreate even  infamous loops, then play other instruments and place vocals on top.

My songs are usually M.V.P -- MPC, VS840, and Pro Tools for mastering. So, technically I guess thats AAD (Analog/Analog/Digital); I would LOVE to have a 2" Ampex tape master---but that's a whole other project!

Academically speaking, I have an English degree, a Media Communications Masters, and have freelanced as a photographer and a writer in St. Louis. Just food for thought.

Most of all, I lovingly call my music "40-something Daddy-Hop": My world revolves around three boys, and the love of their momma, my all-around Ace. Everything I make is with their blessing, if not paired with begging me to please stop freaking out and just make some more music!!!

So, yeah: it's overdue. But better late than never. And...once it begins, there will be oh, so much more!
