Battle your way through NINJAS, ALIENS, ROBOTS and ZOMBIES in this epic battle of small scale proportions on your iOS device.
WHAT IS NARZ
NARZ (Ninjas Aliens Robots Zombies) is a crazy iPhone game that has been in development since July of 2011. The concept is a "hack and slash" with a comedic twist, where you traverse a world filled with ninjas, aliens, robots, and you guessed it, zombies. Not only are you getting to play as ninjas, arguably the coolest warriors ever conceived by Homo sapiens, but you get to pit them against aliens that control robots and zombies. That’s right, you read correctly. Honestly, this team has played enough games to know that a game without zombies is no game at all, and we’re throwing in aliens to boot? Aliens with robots as minions? Did I also mention the ninjas will control elements? That was rhetorical and they will most certainly wield weapons of elemental might. At this point, you’re probably asking yourself “is there no end to the awesomeness?”.
Unfortunately Kickstarter, there is an end. We have run into a problem that the team here at Indestructible Cannon (an up and coming 3D and game development studio) has so quaintly dubbed “underfunditis.” Just in case you didn’t catch the clever play on words, “underfunditis” is plaguing our project as we are currently starting to run out of what little funds we had when we started. That is why we have come to the amazingly handsome/beautiful members of the Kickstarter community (I remember someone saying once “flattery will get you everywhere”), and respectfully ask for your support so we can continue this project and see it through to the end.
Up until now, we have accomplished much, and we currently have a solid build that is playable on the 3rd generation iPhone and 4th. We have been able to produce two main characters; Taikatsu, the master of Earth Ninjitsu, and Kageko, the empress-child of the shadows. They have their weaponry and combos already in place, ready to kick some Alien-Robot-Zombie butt. The Ninjas are also endowed with the ability to engage in melee combat, the skill to throw deadly shurikens towards their foes, and even lob a destructive grenade that will wreak havoc among the ranks of these savage adversaries. We also have 3 levels that are textured and looking great, with a 4th level being developed as we speak. We also have a large amount of ninjas, ready to engage the main characters in glorious battle. The team has also been able to get some placeholder effects and we are starting to bring audio into the mix (pun intended).
From the gameplay footage in our video, you can see that there is already an adequate amount of awesomeness present in this game. However, we are missing a few things that are vital to the success of this project.
- For one, we still haven’t developed the plethora of cube-shape-headed meanies our title requires because of the initials. You might say, “just drop an initial, call it ‘NAR or ‘NAZ’”, which to us, just sounds like “please don’t make this game as cool”.
- We also need
to finish a few more environment props and levels to give players a
nice amount of places in which to treat these invaders with the business
end of a mystical Japanese blade.
- We are also looking for some high
quality music, voice, and sound effects production. We have
unfortunately been forced to offer some “favors” to some people to get
some of the sound down (please do not ask how we plan on repaying them).
- We also want to create a cut scene system so we can deliver an epic
experience. Who wouldn't want to see a close up of these gallant heroes,
or the repulsive intestine-lobbing zombies? No one who deserves to play
video games. We also want to give you an inventory system, so that you
may keep all your goodies stored for later “pwnage”.
- Finally, on the
none game side, we would like to purchase some iOS devices and another Unity
iPhone license, to help speed up the development and testing process. We
would also like to advertise our game and let it be known that such a
game will be released for the ninja-loving masses.
I would also like to make a comment about our release plans, because you deserve it Kickstarter. Because of our drive and determination to make a solid and immersive game, we have planned a strategy to help us see this through while still being able to maintain some funding. We would like to release this game in several installments, featuring Ninjas in the first, Zombies second, then Aliens and Robots last. All these chapters would be tied together and released within one to two months of each other. However Kickstarter, you may change the game for us, if we receive enough funding, and maybe a little extra, then we may just pursue one grand release filled with all the goodies we want to produce. Our options would be open if we have the financial stability (the rent is too damn high!) to be more flexible in our decision making.
For your help, we have lined up a nice package of rewards for you soon to be fans of NARZ, in appreciation of your support. We have been following the Kickstarter community for a while and we feel like it’s a place where talent is cultivated and helped to grow. Thanks to all of you for your interest and we hope to deliver a game that is as fun as advertised and will keep you glued to your iPhone for hours. We apologize in advanced for the inconvenience of constant low-battery life from excessive play, but hopefully, every time your iPhone powers off because of your new found hobby, you will say each time “it was worth it”.
