Hey Everyone!

Thanks again for all the support!  We are receiving so much positive feedback from the record at large and also for the music video that was released a couple weeks ago as the single from the record!  If you haven't had a chance to see it yet, check it out!  Almost to 3,000 views in under two weeks!  That's great!!

Also, for those who ordered T-shirts, following this email will be an email requesting your sizing and current mailing address - Andress Yourself T-shirt maker is on the move!

Post-production and NPR!

Update #9 · Oct 9, 2012 · comment

Hey Folks!!

Just wanted to give a little update on the record!  Roger was in the studio recording other artists all of September and is about to start in on mixing my record!  One of the groups he recorded last month, Afro-Jersey, was the band I met Roger through back in the spring.  Last week, Terre Roche of the Roches(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Roches) and Afro-Jersey was on NPR talking about her experience with crowd funding, which is the type of funding that you and I are a part of here on Kickstarter. Check out the story:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2012/09/25/161702900/crowd-funding-for-musicians-isnt-the-future-its-the-present

The story also talks about kickstarter summer buzzstress, Amanda Palmer.  If you listen to the story you'll hear that Palmer made over 1 million dollars through her campaign because of her innovative entrepreneurial skills and her media making genius.  Palmer also uses the same horn players that we used on the record, Moist Paula Henderson and Dave Smoota.

With all these little synchronicities happening, I am learning in a very real way that the music industry and its media is all around us all the time; we are making it as consumers and artists and creative teams.  So thank you for being part of mine!!

T-shirt designs are coming in in the next couple weeks and I'll be heading to a studio in Long Beach in a couple weeks to record "Azusa Revisited" to release to you and the world on the internet in December!

Thank you for all your support!

#<3,

Johanna

Brooklyn and back!

Update #8 · Aug 28, 2012 · comment

Hey Folks!

It has only been 27 days since my kickstarter project was funded and we have already tracked the entire record!!!  My bandmates, Noah Peller (bass, guitar, piano, cello) and Matt Knapil (saxaphones, keys, flute), and I have already been to Brooklyn and back and now we're in the second phase of mixing!  Baritone Sax player Moist Paula Henderson (Melvin Van Peebles, Reverend Vince Anderson, Moisturizer) and Trombonist Dave Smoota (T.V. on the Radio, Reverend Vince Anderson, Chin Chin) joined us for a horn session.  My good friend Gina Chavez (amazing latina artist from Austin, TX) was in NYC singing with the Kills and dropped by to sing a little.  And we had an amazing drummer, Attis Clopton, come in and do his thing, as well as my great friend Damon Turner from L.A. sing on our collab. "Sister Pico".

It was quite the ride and it's not over yet!  The producer, Roger, will be coming through L.A. for a special Artists Salon that I will be hosting on Wednesday September 5th in Mid-City L.A.  We'll be sharing our presentation mix of "Sister Pico"!

The next step for me is getting other production details sorted for the "Azusa Revisited" album later this month - which will be so fun!

Excited to share all this music with you soon!  Thanks for your support!

#<3,

johanna

I will dedicate a song to you and will somehow creatively insert your names on the track...like whisper them in the low sonic zone of the audio landscape...I'm sure Roger will like this task. You may have to play it backwards to hear it...it will be a fun game for both of us.

    Estimated delivery: Mar 2013
