As all good mathematicians know, pi is a lie. You *are* a good mathematician, right? Show your pride with a Say No to Pi patch!
π is wrong!
It's not your fault. How were you to know? You were just a wee child excited to learn about circles and angles! How could anyone expect you not to be taken in by the most established lie in mathematics?
But it's ok! We can forgive you, just as we can forgive Archimedes, William Jones, and your middle school math teacher.
Why is π wrong?
π is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, but a circle isn't defined by its diameter, it's defined by its radius! The natural, beautiful, elegant choice for the circle constant is therefore the ratio of the circumference to the radius.
The end result is that the otherwise beautiful landscape of mathematics is littered with the trash of factors of 2!
If the π is a lie, then what do we do?!
π should have been C/r rather than C/2r, but it's not, so we need something new that will be. And since there isn't a Greek letter that means cake, we had to settle with τ, tau.
The first step toward fixing this mathematical mess is to educate yourself. The case against π and for τ is made most clearly by the Tau Manifesto.
tl;dr? Then watch the mathemusician Vi Hart's excellent video on the subject.
The next step is to spread the word! And the best way to do that is by sporting...
A unit circle anti π patch!
There's no sound mathematical argument for π, but (and it's a big but) it has a lot of fans. We need to change their minds!
Wear your anti π patch proudly, and when the poor, misled masses ask you about it you can show them the error of their ways!
The fully embroidered patch will have a 1 inch radius and a circumference of τ inches! It will have an iron on backing for attachment (or it can be sewn).
What if we don't fix it?
If we ever meet aliens, they're totally going to make fun of us if we're still using π.
Alien: Mrbble drbble lai zibble piiiii!
(Translation: Haha, look at all those 2s everywhere! They're using π!)
Also, math will continue to be harder than it needs to be.
Spread the word about τ, and this Kickstarter!
The more who sign up, the cheaper the patches will be, and the more I'll be able to ship out to you!
