Hey, Guys.
Any news on the DVD? I still really really want to see this! :)
Hey Aaron,
The DVD is still in the editing process. We want to make sure the DVD is the best it can be, so we're taking care to leave no stone unturned. We hope you'll find the anticipation well worth the final product.
Cheers,
Marshall
What is the status of the DVDs? I'm very eager to experience the performance I helped to fund.
I also miss my DVD, got the package just before xmas.
Hi fellas...!
I got my package today, and in it was a button (bonus!), a program, and a poster. However I chose the DVD with my pledge. Should I send the poster back? I did come to the Saturday evening show, driving from Atlanta solely to see it with a friend, btw.
And I loved my handwritten note! Just let me know how I need to handle this so we're all straight. If you don't want me to send the poster back, I will give it to Shannon, as I bought one while I was there, and she didn't have any extra money.
Thanks for making our trip (4 hours away) totally worth the drive!
~holly
Below is info from my email after I pledged $55:

First review:

Exactly, Grenville! There's also a more contemporary theater tradition in which juvenile male roles are sometimes played by young adult female actors (most famously in the "Peter Pan" musical). It's a great way to bring the experience and perspective of an adult actress into a role that would be very demanding for a child actor.
Svenne: Seems to me that it's flipping the old Shakespearean trope on its head. Instead of a young boy playing a woman, it's a woman playing a young boy.
How come you have a female "John Connor" ? That seems slightly odd....
Can I give you more money because I wasn't really paying attention at the beginning of this epic adventure! I really really realllllllly want to read the script! It was first the title that caught my eyes and when I read that little taste of the script, I was hooked! At the time I just wanted to donate to get you going....now I regret not having paid attention to my donation amount! Let me know and I'll get the $85.00 to you! You guys should come to Rhode Island!
When are you going to start collecting information for backer rewards?
Ma pleasir. You should issue a "we did it! Whooo Thank you!" announcement now that it's officially funded, as well as hints (don't worry, hints!) for what is next.
Hey Michael,
We find your unbridled enthusiasm for our production a true delight! As you well imagined, we cannot distribute the script until after our production. We appreciate the desire you and many of our supporters have to read it as soon as possible, and we promise to honor all our pledges (including the 200 or so handwritten notes!) as soon as we can. Thanks again dude.
Allow me to be the first to offer an official "congrats!" Looking forward to future news immensely! For those of who got the script reward, will it be after the show is staged, or possibly before? Much as I want to read it now I imagine you want to keep the surprise for those seeing the show live.
Hey! Just wondering about the copyright for Terminator. Do you have permission to use the name/movie/music?
Damn. I wish hitting "refresh" on bank account page cause the amount to go up. :D
Fantastic Idea!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point in time you have 214 personal thank yous, 184 handwritten notes to write and 167 personal (?) video thank yous. That's alot of love!
All I want is a copy of the script! Keep the poster. The English major in me wants to read it so badly. A pdf would be perfect! Please, please, please!
Wow, thanks everyone! And Butler, we really appreciate the web coverage and the donation. This show will only be possible because of people like you!
As a fellow Nashville resident, thank you for bringing such a unique idea to our stages. We ran your project on our website: http://videoeta.com/news/3205 and of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to secure two tickets.
If you all need anything, let me know.
You guys rock. No more needs to be said.
I am so excited to see the finished result of this project! I am a Nashville resident, and I am thinking this will be one of the coolest things Nashville theatregoers have EVER seen.
Oh, and to speak to your earlier questions, Michael: we'll be in touch once our fund-raising period has completed to confirm your preference for either tickets or a DVD (and this holds true for all backers who pledged in this category).
It's definitely a full-length show (5 acts, as customary for Shakespeare, with an intermission). Honestly, we've never considered an abridgment. Like any abridgment, the concern is that some of the piece's character would be lost, so we'd proceed with extreme caution there.
Slings and Arrows looks interesting! We'll have to spend some time with it when we get a chance. In the meantime, don't rule Toronto out too soon--we'd love to do a bit of traveling, and we hear it's lovely in the summer.
Best,
Husky Jackal Theater
Hi Michael,
We appreciate your enthusiasm! We worked very hard to honor the story of Terminator 2, but we can't offer selections from the original script as any part of our rewards packages--it's not ours to give away. We'll be keeping our Kickstarter page updated throughout the process, and we'll probably leak another piece or two here.
We have every intention of keeping the dialogue we've started here open during production, and this will no doubt include some insight about how we pieced together the script. We didn't record the original sessions, but we can definitely speak to the process.
We like your ideas for the DVD! We'll keep those in mind during production.
Best,
Husky Jackal Theater
Also [sorry to spam this, just so excited!] a friend on facebook (where I pumped and tagged the HELL out of this) asked how "I'll be bawk" will be translated. Now, perhaps part of the excitement will be not knowing how the iconic T2 scenes and lines will be represented, but it might make for good teasers to show comparative translations?
And for that matter might the annotated script - or, if necessary, a higher pledge amount - contain annotations not only of the source of the shakespeare lines, but the scenes/dialogue from T2 you are adapting? Like how does "No, no, no, no. You gotta listen to the way people talk. You don't say 'affirmative,' or some shit like that. You say 'no problemo.' And if someone comes on to you with an attitude you say 'eat me.' And if you want to shine them on it's 'hasta la vista, baby'" translate into verse?
This "working process" made me thing additional behind the scenes stuff might be good on the DVD. not necessarily a commentary track, but rehersal videos, interviews with the main people of the project, how it came together, maybe a working through of how you made the script adaptation (I doubt you recorded those original sessions?)
Anyways....much love.
I am thrilled this is so successful, and even semi-broke student, I wanted to give it my all. Just a note though: when you pick the $100 prize, there is no way to specify if you would like the DVD or the tickets. I'm in Canada, so it's the DVD for me, but that should probably be specified (I assume if anyone goes for the $500 gift they will want to see the actual show, given that they live in the vicinity, so it shouldn't be an issue).
I hope that everything about this is a smash, and that you can tour to many places with it (though I doubt Toronto is really feasible). Just a question: I assume this is a full length, 2 Act show? Do you think it could be abbriged to an hour, so it be Fringe elligible? Or is that like asking to "abrigide" MacBeth for the same purpose.
Finally, though you may not be able to Canada, Canada can perhaps bring something to you. Slings and Arrows is a dramedy set in a barely fictionalized Stratford, Ontario (a real Shakespeare Festival town), that is hilarious, moving, and the best metatextual shakespeare I have ever encountered (until Terminator the Second, of course :p Actually, you're up against some stiff competition with S&A). Apparently the production company is not the most dilligent of digital police, as all of season one (Hamlet) and season two (macbeth) are on youtube.
Watch, be entertained and amazed: http://www.youtube.com/watch…
[my internet is being wonky, so sorry if this ends up posted multiple times]
We just might, Matthew! Thanks for your support!
Thanks for pitching in, Mark! We paid a visit to your site, and it looks like you're up to great stuff down there in Athens (one of our favorite towns). Good luck to you, and maybe we can work together sometime!
Andrew, thanks for the note! Good luck with your project, and let us know if you need to couch it somewhere in Nashville while you're out there on the road...
Thanks, Juan! When opening night comes, we'll raise that cold one to you.
I send you $5 for a cold one on opening night. Break a leg!
I hope you guys can make it to New York City someday - you'd kill it here!
such an awesome concept! congratulations on reaching your goal!
cheers,
mark

Hey! I hope you can eventually come to Los Angeles with this show and though I only pledged $1, if I can, I will try and bump it up.
Check out my project, CHURCH + STATE, if you can!
Break a leg.
Michael, those are very good questions. The original budget was for a stage that was bare of all but the most plot-essential items, with props and costumes largely hand crafted and scoured from garage sales. We'll still be aiming for a minimalist design (and we'll always be thrifty shoppers), but you'll see a marked improvement in the quality of stagecraft--especially in the realm of FX. We're aiming for a late August/early September debut here in Nashville. Stay with us--we'll have regular updates to follow here on our page.
Thanks!
-Husky Jackal
Absolutely, Matthew! All $100+ contributors will find an autographed, personal thank-you message from our core team in their script.
Is it possible that the script could be autographed for the $100 backers? Thanks! Exciting project!
Given that you just became a "projects we love" on the kicstarter mailing - indeed, the one referred to in the title - could you perhaps update the main page to indicate what you will do with the additional funds beyond the $3000, and explicitly how it will improve the show?
Also, do you have an (estimated) production date, now that the show has backing? Would you consider going on tour and/or having other groups put on the play from your script!
Trully, it all sounds amazing! If you wish, give me a shout at michael [dot] carens [dot] [nedelsky] AT gmail [dot] com
It looks like I'm going to be visiting Nashville.
Cool, you've made it!
Cool, you've made it!
Hi PLV - sorry to have missed your comment earlier. Stay with us on that one...
Hi Julian,
Thanks for touching base! Although we would like to share proceeds with a worthy charity, we are not currently a 501c3.
Is the Husky Jackal Theater company a 501c3? Thanks!
So, um...once you guys do this show, and it's a screaming success...um, what's up with the rights? Like, is it public domain, 'cause it's all still Shakespeare? Like, uh, could I direct it in my town? :-D
Thanks, Guillermo! As a fellow English Major, I salute you.
-Cody from Husky Jackal
Shakespeare? And Sci-Fi?? Zounds! This project clearly falls under the "Why didn't *I* think of that?!" banner! Plus, as an English major, I absolutely *HAD* to contribute. Good luck with your production - I can't wait to see it! :D
Yep, Jack! At the $100 level, pledges receive a T-shirt and an annotated copy of the script in addition to all of the other goodies available at the lower pledge levels.
Any Chance a script could be offered up as a pledge option?
