Our Story: 'Sync' is a film that began as so many others: With a pitch.
Director Houston Yang had hoped to make his final film at Emerson College
his dream project, a time travel detective story. After pitching it to the
BFA program at his school, he was declined, being told the project was
'too big' and 'not practical' for a student production. Seeking to prove them wrong, Yang went into production in April, 2010. Due to financial and logistical reasons, the production failed after one week of shooting, and the project was put on hold. Five months later, Yang re-cast and re-crewed, and set into production again. This time, he met success. With a new production staff and completely new cast, filming began on November 1st, 2010.
Synopsis: In the year 2082, time travel is possible. With this new technology, the Institute of Chronometry has taken it upon themselves to reexamine history by sending back ‘Active Witnesses’ through time to watch first-hand the unfolding of events. The elite fifth branch of this institute sends back agents to witness unsolved murders. The Active Witnesses, themselves, are trained and conditioned to have the bare minimum impact on the past so that they may return to the present from which they departed. ‘Sync’ follows the story of Aton Oneida, the most successful Active in the force. But when the impossible happens, Aton must untangle the past or lose his future.
Description: 'Sync' is both a short film, and a three part web series comprised of 15 minute episodes.
Shooting came to a close on December 15th, after 14 shooting days in two countries.
Representing the work and contributions of dozens of creative individuals from all around the country, 'Sync' has been an incredible opportunity for collaboration between some of the most talented of artists. With props being made by architecture students from Boston Architectural College, to acting talent and production design from Emerson College, 'Sync' has represented the time and efforts of dozens. But we need your help to finish.
The Funds: Your $3,800 will go towards completing the films intensive post-production, and getting it out into the real world. As a science fiction, the amount of visual effects is immense. The money raised through this campaign will enable us to get the effects we need to make this story come to life. The donations will also go towards our own festival run, assisting with entry fee's and producing copies of the film for submission. Our ultimate goal for 'Sync' is to get as many eyes on it as possible. Your donations will make this possible. Thank you.

I began making films in middle school, and found my niche in action. Studying cinematography at Emerson College in Boston, I strive to create action based stories which have brains and brawn.
