About this project
This is but a single story from the book of Garth Kirby: "A" Mechanic of the Garage Mahal.
Inspired by comedy action-adventures like Indiana Jones, Army of Darkness, and Big Trouble in Little China, this one-shot is meant as a single, standalone issue to introduce readers to the character and the world in which he resides.
It is my goal to hire an artist who appropriately fits this project, self-publish a limited run of issues (between 50-100), and pitch the issue to independent comic book publishers (e.g. Image, Dark Horse, SLG Publishing, Ape Entertainment, Oni Press, Dynamite Entertainment, Archaia Press, etc.).
All advertising, promotion, and running the convention circuit would be handled both physically and financially by me. The entire process, from artist selection right on down to the convention floor, will be documented and chronicled by me and shared on the website/Twitter account.
All monetary figures have been estimated from trends and price comparisons from websites Deviantart.com and Penciljack.com, and publishing which will be handled by Comixpress.com (a company with whom I've worked in the past).
It should also be noted that I've gone through this process before. I personally wrote and commissioned two complete issues of another independent comic, Horsemen: The Four Jackasses of the Apocalypse. The artist was paid out-of-pocket, a publisher was selected, and a limited run of copies were printed. Eventually we took the comic online, where it enjoyed positive reviews and respectable site traffic. Now the entire run can be found on our website, where additional updates will also be featured. Following the Twitter will also give you truncated updates and links toward more info (@horsemenonline).
I believe the character and comic have mini/maxi-series potential, but I'm concentrating the effort solely on this one-shot standalone story. This way, even if we only get one story out of him, no one will have to lie awake nights wondering how the thrilling conclusion would have ended.

Your favorite bands, chicks who have broken our hearts... Whatever floats your boat.
