What is the Price of Freedom? They are everywhere, men and women who have made the sacrifices, and payed the price. Let us Honor them.
Behind the Valor is a look behind
freedom itself. Men and women tell us that
we are free in the United States of America. But rarely do we hear
about the sacrifices made for us to enjoy this freedom. With this in mind, we have commenced work on the “Behind the
Valor” series, beginning with 'Honor Them'.
Every man and woman who has served in the United States
military deserves the respect and grateful thanks of the citizens of
our great nation. But more often than not, they come and go without thanks,
ignored. And yet many of these brave heroes have experienced the dramatic trauma of war, the hard decisions that save lives, the silent pain of leaving loved ones behind. And yet they are still
left to live as shadows.
This is what Honor Them will
change. The stories of bravery and heroism, suffering and
sacrifice, drama and courage will be presented in their bewildering
glory to the people of the United States. We know they will truly ignite the fire of pride in the US military. Let
us welcome our men and women in arms once again, bringing them parades
and cheers instead of an empty airport terminal to the hymn of ungrateful
silence.

believe that this project is not only desperately needed, but long
overdue. We have ignored our service men and women for far too long. Their acts of valor, heroism, and sacrifice should be shown, not hidden in embarrassment. Without these men and women,
the United States would have succumbed to its enemies long ago and we would no
longer be a free people.
With your backing, this dream, this chance to recognize them, will become a reality.
Now what will $80,000 be used for?
In order to publish 'Honor Them', we need to sort through 500 and counting transcriptions of interviews with veterans who made personal sacrifices to protect our freedom. The stories featured in the book will be new and unheard, from heroes who have gone unthanked and unknown. Those not featured within the book will be regularly made available through 'Alerion Press' and hopefully through the website for the project itself.
The more funding received, the more that can be done. We have interviews which need to be formatted, and hundreds of hours of recordings that have never been heard, which need to be digitally remastered from cassettes to an mp3 or CD format, able to delivery the clarity of voice that technology can preserve.
But this project is just the kickstart to a greater vision. The 'Behind the Valor' team wants to search the United States for veterans and families willing to volunteer their memories, assisting us in restoring a deeper appreciation of the United States military in our hearts and minds, the people our soldiers protect.

In order to ensure that this project is successful $80,000 is necessary. Digitally remastering interviews the sound quality of which is in serious need of saving, has a tremendous cost to it.
This is along with the necessity of spreading this project throughout the United States. It does not stop with Kickstarter, but will (with enough support) serve as a catalyst so that our veterans are no longer ignored for their service, but honored as they deserve to be.
