Ciao A Tutti! Hey Everyone!

We are honeybird & the birdies, based in Rome, Italy, and we're heading into the studio to make our sophomore album. We will record at Obst und Gemüse, a magical place in a rustic country house in northern Italy in the mountains near Verona, from 1-7 April, one full week of production, followed by one week of mixing in Milano in June. Music makes life better.

Who are we and what do we play?

honeybird - charango, guitar, bağlama, berimbau, mandolin, vox

p-birdie - drums, percussion, ukelele, guitar, vox

walkietalkiebird - bass, u-bass, eko tiger, xuxuca, vox

Who will we be working with? (the wow-factor for us)

The Creative Producer and Bass Clarinettist: Enrico Gabrielli (of Mariposa, Calibro 35, Mike Patton's Mondo Cane, and Der Maurer)

The Recording Engineers and Amazing Musically-Minded Peeps: Rocco Marchi and Francesca Baccolini (of Hobocombo)

The Mix Engineer: Tommaso Colliva (Muse, Calibro 35)

It is an honor to work with this team. Enrico and Rocco play in a band called Mariposa, who I saw three years ago for the first time in Rome and was blown away and thought how excellent it would be to collaborate with them in some way, shape or form. And now, here we are!!

 Album Title?

"You Should Reproduce".

Why?

Because it's an absurdity. The Italian gynecologist told me this the other day and I could not believe my ears. We took the concept and wrote a song about it. We strongly believe it is each woman's choice to reproduce or not and we respect both choices. 

From Reproduce to Coproduce?

As you read our kickstarter page, you are already indelibly involved in our album. We are sharing the pre-production and production with you, family, akron/family, friends and perfect strangers, in hopes of having our album reach more people. Music unites people, music can heal, music is culture and we live in a country where culture is often not appreciated by local leaders. We wish to go beyond these confines.

Therefore by coproducing our album you get to take part in this. 

What are the songs about?

At the moment, there are 16 songs, in 6 languages (English, Italian, Mapudugun, Catanese, German and Macedonian) - on a wide variety of topics, ranging from Roman cats, Roman drivers, genocide, local foods in Skopje, Macedonia, dream travels to Mali and Burkina Faso, life changes, relationships, swimming underwater to the Earth's core, coldness, and of course, reproduction!

Siamo honeybird & the birdies, una band con base a Roma, e stiamo per realizzare il nostro secondo album. Registreremo ad aprile al Obst und Gemüse, uno studio magico situato in un posto idillico del nord d'italia. Poi a Giugno, seguirà il missaggio con un superfonico a Milano. La musica rende la vita migliore.

Chi siamo e cosa suoniamo?

Con chi lavoreremo? (la nostra ciliegina sulla torta)

Sarà l'eclectico produttore e basso clarinettista Enrico Gabrielli ad accompagnarci in studio (Mariposa, Calibro 35, Mondo Cane di Mike Patton, Der Maurer)

Si occuperanno delle riprese Rocco Marchi e Francesca Baccolini (degli Hobocombo)

E' un onore per noi avere a disposizione una squadra come questa. Enrico e Rocco fanno parte dei Mariposa, che ho visto tre anni fa per la prima volta a Roma, e sono rimasta senza fiato. Da allora ho pensato a quanto sarebbe stato bello collaborare con loro in qualche modo, qualsiasi modo. E adesso…eccoci qui!

Titolo dell'album?

"You should reproduce" 

Perché?

Perchè è un assurdità. Una ginecologa italiana una volta mi disse questo ed io non potevo credere a ciò che sentivo. Da li abbiamo estrapolato il concetto e scritto una canzone su questo. Crediamo fermamente che ogni donna sia libera di "riprodursi" o no, e rispettiamo entrambe le scelte.

From Reproduce to Coproduce?

Da come potete leggere nella pagina Kickstarter, siete già indelebilmente coinvolti nel nostro album. Stiamo condividendo la preproduzione e la produzione con voi, famiglia, akron/family, amici, perfetti stranieri, con la speranza che il nostro album arrivi e si estenda a più persone. La musica unisce la gente, la musica può guarire, la musica è cultura. Viviamo in un paese dove spesso la cultura non è abbastanza apprezzata. Speriamo di andare oltre questi confini.

Perciò, dalla coproduzione del nostro album, prenderete parte anche di questo.

Di cosa parlano le canzoni?

Al momento abbiamo 16 canzoni, in sei lingue (Inglese, Italiano, Mapudugun, Catanese, Tedesco e Macedone) - con un ampia varietà di argomenti, a partire dai guidatori romani, gatti romani, genocidio, specialità culinarie locali in Skopje, Macedonia, sogni di viaggi dal Mali a Burkina Faso, cambiamenti di vita, relazioni, immersioni sott'acqua fino al centro della terra, freddo, ed ovviamente, la riproduzione!
