What is the Hollywood Fringe?

Hollywood Fringe is a 11 day-long explosion of theatre performances, solo artists, dancers, experimental art, comedy, films, cabaret and much more.  It's dedicated to creating a forum and framework for sharing incredible local, national and international artists, in an accessible and festive environment.  

In three short years, the Hollywood Fringe has become the biggest arts festival in the West.  Everything and anything goes. The 2011 Hollywood Fringe hosted over 200 artistic projects with over 800 performances in dozens of venues all over Hollywood.  We filled 20,000 seats and this year we are aiming for even more!

What will the money be used for?

This year the Hollywood Fringe is getting even bigger!  The $20,000 we are trying to raise will go towards four different projects.

Venues: We are renting four spaces this year to offer artists flexibility at a lower cost. The Fringe Central Mainstage will be at the Open Fist Theatre,  Fringe Blackbox will be hosted at the Theatre of Note, and Fringe [film] will be hosted at the Elephant Studio.  We are also renting a space to host Fringe Central Station, our social space, which serves as the epicenter of the Fringe universe.

Student Fringe: As an arts organization, the Hollywood Fringe feels it is vital to make sure today's students are exposed to all forms of art. This year, we will be busing in students from all over Los Angeles to take part in a free day of arts education.  Students will take part in workshops, Q&A sessions, performances, and much more.

Sustainability Program: In order to establish a smaller carbon footprint, the Hollywood Fringe will produce multiple Zero Waste days in our venues.  These zero waste days require additional staff and equipment.

Internship Program: Our new internship program will allow some of our younger volunteers to earn school credit for their hard work. The Hollywood Fringe also hopes to provide housing for some of our interns who will be coming long distances just to be a part of the Fringe.
