Update #3: Surpassing Our Goal & Color Choices...

Posted on June 22, 2010

Greetings Everyone!

We are super excited to report that we've surpassed our $3500 goal for this project! We could not have done this without you.

We have 17 days left - and If we continue to raise money, we'll put this towards soundproofing & a new computer for the station! We'll give you a reminder that your account will be charged a few days before the end of this campaign. We'll be sending information about your rewards at the end as well!

We are planning a whole week of festivities August 9-15th to celebrate our grand opening! We'll have In-studios open to the public, music/radio workshops, a live musical performance, and more! Stay tuned for more information soon!

We've attached video and a photo of one of our volunteers, Jenny Asarnow, painting so you can see what color we chose for the DJ booth! Can't wait to share all of this in person with you all!

Update #2: It's Starting to Look Like Hollow Earth Radio...

Posted on June 7, 2010

We'd like to give a big thanks to those who have continued to make pledges this past week. We've been working hard on creating our new radio space. In fact, I just got back from sealing concrete today. See picture below - doing things safely as you can see!

It's quite an accomplishment to look around and know that we will be making radio and community happen there very soon. Garrett and I go by in the evening sometimes and just sit and stare and imagine what its going to be like once we have moved the radio there. Right in the middle of our last board meeting, we spontaneously moved our meeting to the new space so it could inspire our conversations and planning.

We're excited about this endeavor and want to thank you for being excited with us. Tell your friends about our project! We have about $500 more to raise in order to have a successful Kickstarter Campaign. We can do it!

love,
amber kai

Posted on May 30, 2010

We want to thank all of our supporters who believe in our mission to support underrepresented music and sounds! It means a lot, and we feel so loved with all of your pledges! We're happy to get the chance to embed ourselves further into the community, and with your help, we will get there! Let your friends know about our project if you think they'll like what we do!

Take a listen to a field recording taken while Hollow Earth Radio volunteers were ripping up tile at the new space and check out this video of the progress we are making on construction!

Hollow Earth Radio

Has not connected their Facebook account.

Hollow Earth Radio is a Pacific Northwest freeform online radio station that presents a forum for underrepresented music, sounds and perspectives. We support the local music community in Seattle and the larger Pacific Northwest region by focusing on found sound, field recordings, forgotten music, local musicians, bedroom recordings, low-fi demos, dreams, storytelling, and things that feel real. We acknowledge and celebrate raw talent and imperfections, and encourage bands who've never had their music air on a radio before to take a chance with us. Along with providing 24 hours of online freeform audio broadcast, we put on several community events including an annual record and craft fair, field recording workshops, and an annual music festival.
