About this project

For 3 1/2 years, Hollow Earth Radio has been operating out of a residential home. As an entirely volunteer-run organization, our focus is to be accessible and open to community involvement. By moving to a public venue in Seattle's Central District, we will expand our support to the local music community. However, this new space requires renovation before our projected move-in date of August 2010.

The construction project involves removing tile and carpeting, and then painting the whole space from floor to ceiling. We're also using reused, recycled, donated materials to build a sound-booth, built-in shelving for music storage, and a computer station for editing.

In order to build our grand vision, we need to raise around $3,500 dollars. Your donations will go toward these renovations and will ensure we have the DIY community radio station we need! Any donations that we receive over $3,500 will continue to pay for construction costs, soundproofing, and rent.

Having this public location will increase our programming with more live on-air DJing, more volunteer opportunities, more live in-studios, more youth field recording workshops, and more community events. This physical space will allow us to grow exponentially as an arts organization! Thanks for pledging!

Hollow Earth Radio is a Pacific Northwest freeform online radio station that presents a forum for underrepresented music, sounds and perspectives. We support the local music community in Seattle and the larger Pacific Northwest region by focusing on found sound, field recordings, forgotten music, local musicians, bedroom recordings, low-fi demos, dreams, storytelling, and things that feel real. We acknowledge and celebrate raw talent and imperfections, and encourage bands who've never had their music air on a radio before to take a chance with us. Along with providing 24 hours of online freeform audio broadcast, we put on several community events including an annual record and craft fair, field recording workshops, and an annual music festival.
