Our conventional line of Hippie Butter Hemp Seed food products has been a big hit since we opened our internet retail-store in 2009.  Now it’s time to Kickstart our company's evolution and go organic!  We've done the research, listened to our customers' feedback, adapted, and set our strategy; we're ready to move to the next phase of Hippie Butter’s Organic Evolution. Your kind and generous Kickstarter support will make it possible for us to launch our new line of delicious and nutritious Hippie Butter Organic Hemp Seed foods into the world. After all, a "hempy" world is a happy, healthy world!

PAST: Hippie Butter History.  Hippie Butter is the "Hemp Seed Dream" of Brad Ervin, former chef, veteran Rock & Roll sound-engineer, and now Founder and Chief Hemp Officer-CHO of Hippie Butter.

Brad’s Hippie Butter dreams sprang to life four years ago when he was introduced to the 10,000 year old “superfood," hemp seeds, while touring overseas. A "foodie" since he was a kid, Brad sought out hemp seed cooking inspiration from the many people and cultures he encountered. It wasn't until Brad toured extensively in Canada that he came to an epiphany: hemp seeds are not only delicious; they are beneficial to both human health and the health of our planet. Upon returning home to Texas, Brad immediately set out to find a way to bring the goodness of hemp seeds to his family and friends. That goal was easier said than done. Brad learned, much to his dismay, that the US is the ONLY industrialized country not growing Industrial Hemp for food, fiber and fuel. When It became more and more difficult for him to procure high-quality, reliable, and safe sources of hemp seeds foods in the US, Brad met the challenge; he launched Hippie Butter Hemp Seeds in 2009.

Today, Brad and his wife, Melete (artist, writer and chicken whisperer) are the "Happy Hippies" of Hippie Butter. They've expanded Hippie Butter's product lines to include Hemp Seed Bath and Body products, as well as delicious and healthy Hemp Seed foods. Two months ago, Brad and Melete introduced their first Organic hemp seed product, Hippie Hemp Seed Butter, to an overwhelmingly positive customer response prompting them to take the next step, Organic Evolution. "Hemp Seeds Dreams" really do come true.

PLANS: Hippie Butter's Strategy for Success. We are a bootstrapped, or-- as we like to say --"Birkenstocked Mom & Pop" internet retail-store. Our success strategy is focused on educating and engaging people about our favorite "super food,” hemp seeds. At the same time, we’re building relationships and trust with our customers through word of mouth, our website and social media. Since our founding in 2009, our family, friends and customers have loyally and unfailingly supported us, providing the inspiration we needed to make our Hippie Butter Hemp Seed Dreams become a beautiful reality. The connections we make and relationships we build with our community motivate us to do our very best; these interconnections fuel our imagination, adaptation and evolution. We are committed to our mission: to procure, test, and provide the best hemp products available, and to devote the time and care to guarantee great customer service for our patrons.

Then we will tackle the Organic Hippie Butter to-do list: we’ll register for our USDA-Certified Organic logo, purchase supplies for new product packaging and labels, and create new, organic labels with UPC codes. At long last, we’ll be able to bring Hippie Butter's Organtic Hemp Seed goodness to a store near you.

HOW DOES THIS FUNDRAISER WORK?  This Kickstarter fundraiser is an “all or nothing” endeavor: Our goal of $3,000.00 will barely cover the cost to start our Hippie Butter Organic Hemp Seed Line. If we don't reach our goal, we will not receive any of the donations pledged, and your credit card will not be charged. If we do reach our goal (and we hope we do!) your credit card will be charged on the day the campaign ends.

Q) Are hemp seed products legal?

     A) YES!  Products made out of hemp seeds are legal in over 35 countries worldwide including the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Germany and France. Hemp seeds (non-viable), hemp seed oil and hemp derivatives can be legally imported, sold and consumed in the USA.

Q) Will hemp seeds products get me high?

     A) NO!  Absolutely not. The trace levels of THC present in hemp derivatives do not provide anywhere near the potency (percentage of THC by weight) required to give the consumer a drug high.

Q) Will I fail a drug test if I eat or use hemp seed products?

     A) NO!  Several studies have shown that based on the trace levels of THC present in today's hemp food and body care products, obtaining a "false positive" drug test is very unlikely (just about impossible!).

Q) What do hemp seeds taste like?

     A)  Nutty. Hemp seeds have a wonderful "nutty" flavor similar to sunflower seeds or walnuts. Hemp seed oil is "emerald green" in color with a very light, nutty flavor.
