What do you get when you ask over 70 North Carolina artists to respond to Van Gogh’s "The Bedroom, 1888?"
Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, NC
April 7 – July 29, 2012
Curated by Moni Hill, Asheville, NC artist
Moni Hill had a dream to curate an art exhibition which pays tribute to Vincent Van Gogh by inviting fellow professional artists to respond to Van Gogh’s iconic The Bedroom, 1888. The culmination of her dream is an exhibition at the Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, North Carolina which runs from April 7 – July 29, 2012 in HMA’s main gallery. Admission is free, as are all exhibitions at HMA. This exhibition will give the public a glimpse into the creative process of artists through their respective art forms as they reveal their interpretations of one of Van Gogh’s most intimate paintings and of his life.
Because the exhibition offers rich material for learning¸ our dream is to expand the educational opportunities for the public through gallery talks, panel discussions, films, children’s activities, meet-the-artists reception, workshops, tours of artists’ studios, and the creation of an exhibition catalog.
That is what brought us to Kickstarter. Will you back our project to create an exhibition catalog and expand public programming? Donations are tax deductible (less the value of your tangible reward) as HMA is a 501c3 organization. We offer levels to pledge support from $2 to $10,000 and a collection of unique rewards.
