      Hi everyone!

@Sara Yes, this will work perfect for you. No more zip ties! And the black and white are super neat
@Rene They are special for kids! Never liked tying my shoes neither, not even now :S

Just thinking about the one size fits all. Can we get hickeys for kids too? I recall learning to tie my sneakers as a kid being a very horrific experience.

I can hardly wait to get my black and white hickies. I hope the black and white choice will be one when they are sold. I am an older person and now use zip ties to do the same thing on my walking shoes around the house and outside...only hickies will be more comfortable and will look so much better. I vote for black and white colors! These will be really great!

Thanks for your attention to your backers :) I can't view the video right now on my phone, but the video's still pic looks like the CGI part of the main video showing how they go on ... I guess what I was thinking of was more of a real-life video that could show you guys unboxing a new package of hickies, and then putting them on a pair of shoes yourself, then slipping them on, etc? Not necessarily anything flashy, just straightforward. It's not a big deal, just something I thought would be nice. Regardless, trust me you've got my backing no matter what (and my votes for Brookstone!).

Hi everyone! Thanks for the feedback!
We will prepare more videos for you this weekend.
Just a quick note, this is just a prototype sample of the packaging. The final sample with the graphic design on in, the instructions, brand logo etc is not ready yet. We will upload it when it is and see if you like it. We will prepare a video for that showing how the HICKIES will fit in the packaging and everything we when have the final stuff.
      Thanks again!

if it can be eco-friendly packaging it would be great....i work in design and i think perhaps the packaging isnt quite resolved yet...to conserve space and packaging material, you could just show 2 of the laces and have the other pairs behind it...and then perhaps heighten the top tab area so you can screen print 14 HICKIES, COLOUR, etc. info on it....or you can have a sleeve around it with the info printed....

There's very little mileage in showing 4 hickies vs. 1 or 2...as long as the consumer sees the actual product...for some companies, they just print the product foto on the packaging to get away from... the whole plastic see thru....it would nice to bring in the bw photography with the highlighted colour shoelaces on the packaging....think of APPLE packaging, they dont necessarily need to show the actual product in plastic, but they do print an aesthetically pleasing product photo.

I assume this is just the shell with more to come - cause it's kind of boring. [I have firsthand experience with clamshells at WMT and Costco during my time with Panasonic.]

Having said that - eco is always in, as well as less / eco-friendly packaging. Clamshells are inherently problematic. They need to be somewhat theft-resistant, but easy to open, and the type of plastic is not always recyclable (#1 or #2), but probably more affordable than paper-based alternatives - and most important - people like to see EXACTLY what they are getting. Only showing four and having the rest "behind the scenes" may be a bit misleading and could result in overlooked sales.

Remember - packaging is your in-store salesperson for the most part, so make it fun, simple, and exciting. It should reflect the personality and fun nature of your exciting new product.

Can't wait to get mine (hope to use them in dress shoes as well)...

@ Jess: Agree! we had put a lot of thought into the packaging to make it as efficient as possible, we are looking at ways of doing our package of Biodegradable plastic.
@ Steven: below the 4 Hickies you can see, are the other 10 Hickies. So 1 pack for 14 Hickies.
@ Matt: See answer above, you can see in the main video, in the project home, the Hickies being put on a pair of real shoes.

less packaging = eco-friendly bla bla bla

Creator Steven Horikoshi on May 18, 2012

My guess would be that there are 3 HICKIES on the opposite side of the package. I *think* I can see their outline between each of the four visible ones. That makes 7 to a package and then you get two packages for the 14.

That's an astute observation Arnie ... I second that question, if the packaging has them in fours, how are we getting packs of 14?

Also, would love to see a video of them actually being put on a pair of shoes. Maybe that can be in tomorrow's "special update"? :)

Creator ArnieX on May 18, 2012

And oh... I don't understand much how packaging is done, it is said that 1 package = 14 Hickies anywhere I could see packaging it features 4 of them, please make this clear how packaging is done.
