Hello Friends, We are now in our 13th year making music and touring, and we’ve never been more excited about it. This career is quite a roller coaster, and we’re continually humbled by you, our fans, who keep showing up to see us play, keep buying our music, telling your friends about us and letting our songs into your lives.
These last few years in particular have been amazing. We have toured, performed many shows and shared the stage with tons of great national acts. The songs keep coming, and you keep showing up. We have had some major breaks, made numerous friends and fans through playing our own music. This year promises to be even busier, with our upcoming dates on the east and west coast, another HERRICK tour, 2011 will be wonderfully busy.
We are at a pivotal moment in our life with music, which we hope will allow us to keep doing what we love. As we are sure many of you have heard, the music business is in decline. We keep hearing that, and yet our fans make us believe it is doable to keep at it. The old model of major labels spending hundreds of thousands of dollars recording young bands are simply gone. Now are the days of the independents like us, who partner with smaller music companies to help us, and them, achieve our goals together. This means that we have to finance our own albums.
We started this album over two years ago. By the time we went to mix, we had new, better songs. We knew that we could step-up to a whole new level. We want to give you all a better product. So we started again, thus naming the album, “New Dance”.
We have paid for all the tracking on our own through hard work. There have been many obstacles that have been in our way, but we have worked hard and we will be finished soon!.
This is where the “HERRICK's New Dance” campaign comes in.
It costs a lot of money to record an album. There are producers, engineers, studios, musicians, graphic designers, mastering technicians, duplication costs, photographers, videos, and many others who make their living off of making music. It’s hard to believe that this will be our first ever FULL lenght album! It’s time to bring new music to you all.
This is where you come in!
In partnership with Kickstarter, we have developed a bunch of creative fan packages and experiences for you, our fans, who want to pledge towards the new album. Our goal is to raise $5000.00. Although the actual costs are much greater than this, we feel that’s a number we can reach with the fans, friends, and family we have who believe in what we are doing out here on the road and in the studio. This number may seem huge to you, but we promise you in the world of recording albums, our budget is incredibly modest and thrifty. We hope to raise much more than this if possible. Any money left over will help us pay for a new van. As well as help us finance a few music videos for the new album. We have to raise the whole amount, or we won't be able to get any of it! So spread the word, and we have until April 10th to do it!

Our time in the studio with the band and Co-producer Michael Bonagura has been incredibly life giving thus far. There is nothing more fun for a songwriter and artist than to see the songs come to life in the studio, and begin to become complete thoughts, ready for our fans and friends to enjoy. We have an incredible team working on the album, and we think we have the finest band around. We believe music matters, and we just want to make the absolute best record possible with your help. Once in a lifetime an artist or band comes along that is so unique, so fresh and so original sounding that it starts a whole new trend for rest of the music industry to follow, Herrick is one such band. With intricate harmonies and a distinctive sound that combines the best of country, rock and blues, Herrick shatters the current country music mold and creates a new path for it to follow.
A true One-Of-A-Kind Band.
Full of heartfelt lyrics, their music is dynamic and appealing, yet it is unconstrained by "formulas" for hit songs. It's real, it's earthy and it doesn't pull any punches when it hits you right in the gut.
The band is serious about its ability to perform live. "Everyone in our band is able to burn his instrument down to the ground," notes Kerry, matter-of-factly. "We
are blessed with the people we play with. They are just top notch." "We are serious
about giving all our energy to our fans."
NEW DANCE, Herrick's new album is one that will open the door to the soul of Herrick and let you take a peek of what's going on inside.
"We are excited about the new songs", says Donna. "We started a year or more ago, then we met Jeff Baker. We started talking to Jeff and hit it off musically. We clicked in the studio, so we all decided to scratch what we had and start again!
"These songs are truly HERRICK!", Says Donna. "We were so tired of hearing, "You guys are incredible Live". "You are so much better live than on the CD!" "Don't get me wrong, it is a great compliment to our live performance. But this time around you will hear Herrick as Songwriters,Vocalists, and Musicians.
Deciding what songs will make the Album is not an easy process.
"The final cut has not been decided,"says Kerry. " We have brand new songs that were just written a few months ago, as well as some we have been performing live for some time". "We are waiting until we are all finished with all the tracking and then we will decide. Donna's voice is astonishing. So many artists these days let their voices be discombobulated by computers. Donna doesn’t do that. She doesn’t need to. She can walk into a room and kick your ass."
"We never stop writing, " Says Donna, " But when we finalize a song, we always sit together In a room and work the song from top to bottom. Every song is truly HERRICK. through and through. We tap into our emotions and let it ride..."Donna adds, "We don't write to a template or
try and calculate how a tune might sell in some market. It just comes out of us
naturally as we pull a song together. It's very organic.""Of course it's great when someone comes up and tells you how much one of your songs touched them," comments Donna. "But we write music for us first. It's the only way we know how to make music. And we've found that what we are feeling or going through at the time is often what's happening in everyone's life. We are all going through the same valleys to stand on the same mountain tops."
The songs written by Donna and Kerry run the gamut of emotions, alternating at times between seething rage and a bruised vulnerability. With Donna's powerful vocals, pummeling riffs, and swaggering attitude, sounds a bit like what might have happened had Led Zeppelin been fronted by “a chick.”
The band has diverse influences like Ann Wilson (Heart), Ryan Adams, Audioslave, Dwight Yoakum, Merle Haggard, The Eagles, Emmylou Harris, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Maroon 5, Waylon Jennings, Evanescence and more... it's no wonder their music combines many elements from different musical styles into a new and unique blend.
Industry insiders label the band "A Breath of Fresh Air". Different is very intriguing, and Herrick has been winning fans and music insiders over with every show they play.
Their innate instinct for creating high quality music has helped Herrick stand out from the crowd as they tour to Standing Room Only crowds across the country.
