Congrats, Richard! I just viewed MMM on the NPR site and enjoyed it tremendously - I was sorry that it ended when it did. Beautifully structured and shot, your video view of Murray is a touching picture of a man who continues to make his world with honesty and grace. Thank you,

Update #9: Get the word out!
Hello and Kickstarter supporters of Music Man Murray (a documentary)! I have great news.
Music Man Murray (a documentary) has been picked up for distribution by the Documentary Channel! It'll premier next month and also live-stream for a limited time at All Songs Considered's site in conjunction with Record Store Day, April 21. For a week you'll be able to watch the entire film online at All Songs' site, and the Documentary Channel will be broadcasting it over the next year, and also will offer DVDs for sale.
This is the time the film will really meet the world, so if you have seen the film and liked it, or if you want me to owe you one, please help me spread the word by directing people to the film's Facebook page: Music Man Murray (a documentary). I would appreciate it if you would "like" the page, if you are on Facebook, and share with your community however you can, that the film will be available through these great outlets.
I'll be bugging you again before the film drops, but I just couldn't wait to share this news with you. Thanks again to each and every one for the support--I could not have done it without you!
Truly,
Richard P.
PS: Don't forget--the Bay Area premier of MMM is just around the corner! On my 30th birthday, March 14, in Orinda, and March 18 in Pleasant Hill! At the East Bay International Jewish Film Festival!
PPS: And if you know anybody in Chicago, tell them to come see the film at the Chicago International Music and Movies Festival next month!
PPPS: Here is a great voicemail Murray left me before we started filming, asking me to get in touch with his son, Irv, who became a huge part of the project, as you know!

Update #8: MMM on the small screen, a premier at Santa Barbara
Hi everybody! It's been a while. There's a little bit of news on the MMM front!
First, we've secured broadcast distribution! Look for MMM on the small screen (in the US, on satellite and digital) starting with a premier on April 21, Record Store Day! Stay tuned for details...
Also, we had an amazing premier at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, with Murray in attendance and a memorable Van Dyke Parks show following one of the screenings. A smattering of press took notice:
- LAist
- Noozhawk
I was away in Cambodia in November and December shooting first camera on a feature-length doc about the Khmer Rouge tribunals. It should be a great project. Back in California, I started a small web video production company, Societche. Check us out here.
Be in touch,
Richard P.
P.S. Did I ever send you this picture of Murray with a sampler? Adorable!
