Update #6: Thanks!
Today it's confirmed that unfortunately we did not reach our goal. Through this process I discovered such an incredible amount of support and good will I want to thank everyone who wished me well or donated some money. I really am floored by the response, even if we didn't quite make it in the end.
Life goes on, and I'm off on tour soon! I hope to see some of you there anyway and you can follow the trip on my little Norwood microsite of course: http://www.norwoodwisconsin.com
Is that the end? I hope not! When I'm back from tour I'd like to begin scheming another fun vinyl-related project taking what I've learned from my experience here. One thing I learned is: ask! So - what would you like to see?
Thanks so much again!
Erik
Update #5: What Now?
I hate to jump to conclusions, but it doesn't look like we're going to reach our goal this time. Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement!
What happens now?
You won't be charged a dime, but you'll still get some fun stuff.
I'm going on tour in a couple weeks as planned, and I'll be recording my sets as I go. Rather than bring a special tour-only disc to sell on the road, I've decided to make my shows available here: http://music.norwoodwisconsin.com
Within a few days (or possibly right after) they'll be up to listen to or download in the format of your choice!
Those recordings will be available for a small fee, but I'm going to give out download codes to everyone who pledged so you can download my Norwood Songbook series, as well as a high quality single of the Inlets remix originally slated for the 7".
Will this 12" and 7" combo ever see the light of day? I hope so. I do! I'll keep you all informed of my plans after I get back from tour, but I would like to find a way to realize this project - possibly with another kickstarter project. :-)
Thanks again for your support - it has been really heartening to see so many folks willing to help out this lone computer musician. :-)
Best,
Erik
Update #4: Tour Journal & Norwood Microsite
Hi everyone!
I just wanted to send a ping to say that tonight I set up a little microsite for my Home Normal record where I'll be posting updates from the road and (as high speed wifi allows) uploading recordings of my sets as soon as possible after the performance. Kickstarter supporters will get special download codes to download high res mp3s or lossless media of course!
The microsite is here:
http://www.norwoodwisconsin.com
Thanks so much for your support so far - this has been an incredibly exciting experience already and I'm looking forward to the future. :-) Spread the word!
XOXO
Erik
Update #3: sad news and great news
Hi all -
I have a bit of sad news. Bryan AKA Always Tokyo will no longer be able to join me on tour. He'll be along in spirit, and on the special 7" split as well of course.
Because kickstarter will not allow us to adjust our goal amount, this means I'll have enough money to press a 12" record in addition to the 7" we had planned.
So, everyone who has contributed enough to receive a 7" will be getting a 12" record in addition to the split 7".
The 12" record:
Side A: The suites from Middlemarch.
Side B: My debut as He Can Jog, the Hot Chocolate Tummies EP
The 7" record:
Side A: Always Tokyo Single
Side B: Inlets remix by He Can Jog
David Newman of Audiobulb records has also graciously agreed to help with the production of the 12" record.
We're so close to reaching our goal! There are scant few days left however, and for all this to happen we really need our help! Please tell your friends and family :-) Every tiny bit helps!
My other big news is that because I found a deal on my travel costs, I'll be able to make it out to the west coast on this tour after all. I'll be hitting Seattle, Portland, Eugene, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Hope to see you soon! Please spread the word!
XOXO,
Erik
