I would like to thank everyone's patience as the book develops, as there are many aspects to producing a book, it's very difficult to nail down a particular date of shipping as the book is still in design phase, but there have been some exciting developments of late. 

First of all, I would like to announce that the legendary writer Aleksandar Hemon will be doing the foreword to the book. Needless to say, I am extremely excited that he has agreed to come on board. His unique perspective, but also a deeper understanding of the origins and ideas behind this project, will raise the book to another level. If you would like to learn more about Mr. Hemon or check out some of his highly acclaimed books as well as other works, please visit: www.aleksandarhemon.com. His latest, The Book of My Lives, has just been released and I recommend everyone to pick up a copy!

Second important piece of news is that the book page count has been increased by 32 pages, from 144 to 176, which will give more space for the stories, as well as some extra images.

We lit the flame and watched the wind carry the sparks away into the night. Katherine danced around the fire where the Cherokee once stomped, and those dances always called for something. “What should I call for?” she wondered as she held up a piece of firewood. I didn't know, but Rumi entered my mind once again. “Isn’t it time to turn your heart into a temple of fire?” he once wrote. Katherine threw the wood into the fire. It answered, blasting sparks at her. Months later I called to tell her this image has come to represent this project. “Did I tell you?” she asked. “A day after, I fell in love.”

I have been getting many questions from those who bid at $10, $25, and $50 about wanting to "upgrade" to options above their original pledge. Many missed the deadline and a chance to adjust their pledge. The good news: a few books are still available (although a limited amount). This incredible 38-day-marathon ended in the single most successful day of the entire campaign: 28 backers chipping in to the tune of $3,084, smashing past #10 and #9 all time funding record in the Photography section of Kickstarter (out of many thousands!): http://www.kickstarter.com/discover/categories/photography/most-funded

When I started this, I was thinking raising $15,000 would be a struggle, and I'm stoked that you've proven me wrong! $34,431 from nearly 500 backers. Given that Kickstarter never featured this project, and never even selected it as a staff pick, this is nothing short of astonishing!!!

The fact that all of you chose to spend your hard earned money on this project, and by extension, the arts, means a world to me. THANK YOU ALL!

I plan to do a major update within the next few days, and will do a breakdown on how this campaign came together, certain lessons learned and surprises along the way, and some special thanks to a few individuals that made a huge difference in making this a successful campaign by diligently working every day to get the word out.
