Hi I'm Harry. I'm a tech geek that started learning programming at the age of 10 in BASIC using an 8086 PC. Since then I have worked in Tech, got a Computer Engineering degree, moved to management, started my own company and have now landed in practicing branding and simplicity.
I love games, especially board and card games. Nothing beats being in the same room with my fellow geeks and doing a victory dance when I win.
Thanks! I hope the rest gets to everyone very soon
received mine this week. nice work
Still no decks for me either :(
Should I have received my decks by now? In Madison, AL.
Sweet, thanks! :)
Gavin, in mm it's:
Height: 100mm
Width: 65mm
Depth: 15mm
Can someone do me a favour and measure the height, width and depth of a tuckbox please? In millimetres preferably, but yards, nautical miles or angstroms will be fine as well... ;-)
Still waiting for mine here in Sydney... I'm jealous of you Edward!!!
Yah my cards arrived today (in Australia) sadly my girlfriend isn't interested in playing :(. Love the anti-static bags that's a nice touch.
@sgllama Enjoy!
My packs were in yesterday's mail :-) I wonder how long it'll take before the Wife's eyes glaze over?
@Mark glad you enjoyed it. Hope you can get some geek friends together and play a round :)
@Matthew awesome!
My pack showed up today, it looks great :D
My deck of CPU Wars cards dropped onto my desk this afternoon so woo hoo! Then I realised I had no one to play it with as I am the only geek who works here :( So I played against myself and guess what? I WON!
Cheers Harry - You Sir are a star!
Hi Rich,
Unfortunately I can't resend the request. Please check your spam folder in case those sneaky scripts thought it was spam. If you can't find the email with the survey then send me a message with all your details.
Thanks,
Harry
Hi
I just realized that I never received a survey from you. Was it supposed to come to my email account? Please let me know, thanks.
Rich
Teik you are right. When we did the various versions it crossed my mind to mirror the logo but there is no reason. You will always hold them in the upright way :)
I was going to suggest what eltor0pt said but have also realised that due to nature of the card front, folks will be only holding them up in the upright way to read ie not left upside down.
If you do put every other line upside down for this reason, you also need to put a mirror 'coloured CPU wars' on bottom left so that both positions is reflected.
I mean "put"... Like, in a way you can read "CPU Wars" in either position...
About the card back, you should out every other line upside down...
thanks Harry
No worries Dustin, I'll make a note of it now.
I apologise for so many messages. I believe i now understand what you mean by a URL of your choice. I would like it to be http://www.runescape.com/. Once again im sorry for so many messages. i just diddent understand correctly
Oh okay. Thank you for the reply. The answer i sent in my survey is incorrect because i diddent understand at the time. I dont have a website or anything but it could just be somthing like http://cpuwarsthegame.com/Dustin. If i am understand it correctly.
Hi Dustin, to clarify. On the homepage there will be a Thank You page where I will list all the backers (by name or nickname). The name/nickname will be a link to a url of your choice (it can be anything). Merry Xmas!
Oh and by the way. Merry Christmas Harry!
Hey i just filled out the survey but i was a little confused at the question that asked for the URL of the thank you page. what does that mean?
Daniel, you can get it later when it's available online. At least now you are part of the family and will find out about promotions, giveaways etc ;)
My only regret is that I didn't pledge enough to get a pack
Hi Daniel, I will be sending the surveys out tomorrow. Sorry for the delay but it's Christmas :)
Have you sent the survey out yet?
My payment was delayed for a but due to billing issues:)
Hi Chris, absolutely. When the campaign finishes I will send out a survey asking for these details. When you receive it please input your brother's details.
Hi Harry, I have pledged on behalf of my brother as he's a proper geek and I am merely a trainee. I've got it for him for Christmas as I know he'll love the idea of backing this project as well as the actual game. Will I be able to change it so that he is on the thank you page and has access to the FB page and the blog?
Thanks for pointing out Teik! I always had in my mind to post on BGG when the game will launch but didn't think of posting for the campaign. I will do it now.
You really am missing a big trick not promoting this on BGG!
Thanks a bunch Harry.
Hi Kolton, this is something that has been in my mind for the past days. I'm trying to come up with something to thank everyone for their support. I will post something soon.
More rewards?
@josebasubi Thanks! I really wanted to make it easy for everyone and fair wherever you are in the world. I'm doing this to cover the costs (not make profit) so I thought that free shipping was essential.
For the bigger packs, that's where booster packs come in. You will then be able to turn a 30-card deck into 50,60,70 cards :)
About the more items, I'm cooking something based on the ideas and feedback I have received. I will solidify the idea over Christmas and then open it to feedback.
@Kevin I spent a lot of hours trying to decide which CPUs I will feature. It was a very difficult task...
That's why I decided to allow for add-ons and booster packs. This way I can expand the existing versions with new processors and also chips that didn't make it in the first run :) In January I will be in touch with everyone with new ideas.
The free shipping is really a courtesy. Count me in for a GPU version. Also, in the next deck release It would be nice to get more cards in a row like 50 instead of 30 and get more items (processors, gpus...) covered.
Looks like you're missing the AMD K5 and AMD K6. Too bad I didn't know about this earlier, I could have loaned you mine for the shoot.
Cool! Thanks Lasse
Awsome! looks like i am raising my pledge a little then :)
@Lasse absolutely! For pledges above $50, every $10 gets you an extra deck. E.g $70 and $170 get you 7 decks
Is it possible to add 10 dollers to the 50 doller pledge and recive 6 decks instead of 5?
@Lasse thanks for pointing this out. @Victor I will also add it in the faqs to make it easier for everyone
The list is in the first update. You can see it if you press updates and scroll to the bottom of the page
@Harry you mentioned that you were going to post a list of processors included in the game. Where can this list be found?
Thanks Dustin. The support from you guys and comments like this have been the greatest reward.
Once I have the decks I will do a full unpacking, how to play extravaganza :D
