While Kickstarter was unsuccessful, the idea is not lost. I am in talks with a few developers willing to partner with me, which potentially cuts $5,000 or so from the bill. That's great!

Update #3: In the event that there is no funding...
Greetings backers and non-backers!
It has been a rough ride so far. I have contacted a ton of individuals and companies, which has led to great advice and support. Notably, Creative Commons tweeted it, Download Squad blogged it, OpenSource.com blogged it and a few cool people helped out. Now that only 1/3 of the funding time is left though, I've braced myself for delaying the development of Stocky.
The idea is useful and worthwhile, but definitely niche. It applies to designers, artists and everyone in-between as long as they're computer-savy. It associates itself with open source, and has a slightly geeky front. Simply put: not everyone understands it.
That's great though. Niche is good. A specialized community for uploads, downloads and collaboration has a huge potential in the community, but stock media? Well it is the closest name for such content, but only the project itself can redefine 'stock media' to my hoped for, wide-ranging definition.
So the project. Yeah. How can it happen?
At this point there seems to be three possibilities in the future for Stocky.
1) Major enough press occurs last minute to fund development through Kickstarter
2) An awesome programmer generously partners with me to make the project happen
3) The idea sits and waits for a more opportune time (whenever I get funds or master a programming language).
To me, #2 seems possible, and in this partnership I would share ownership in exchange for time and effort. If anyone knows a potential volunteer, please email me: info@harrisonweber.com

We've gotten a little bit of press on Stocky, so here's a link to something that was just published: Click for the article.
