All of the features you suggest are already available from Neurosky, the company which donated the initial headsets to our space.
Our focus has been more directed toward examining the output data and just seeing what kind of fun we could have with it, and what we could learn, which is an underlying philosophy of our group.

It's a cool project so well done, and I can see you are wanting to go down the art route with this.
But it seems to me like such a HUGE lost opportunity. Instead, I would be making the controllers bluetooth, and some software for iPads, and the potential is infinite, really. Start with a Pong game, then add some other variation. You will just keep on getting sales and success....
This is completely different, but oh so limited. :(
