GuyLoki Films has created award winning comedy, horror, and science fiction. Now we are gearing up for our first Superhero film!

What we are going to do:

During the course of a meager 3 weeks we are producing an entire short film.    All of the writing, shooting, and editing will take place in a frenzied 21 days of film making.  The best part, we already have a guaranteed screening date in late September with the Philadelphia Film and Animation Festival, provided we complete the film before their deadline.  Now we just need to make the film.

This is the second time that we are making one of these 21 day films, last year we produced our Award Winning film 'The Schlonburger Certainty Postulator' which received the Audience Award at its premiere screening.  It has since gone on to be included as one of the 'Best Steampunk Shorts' of the Boston Science Fiction Film Festival, and won 'Best Short Film' at the Queen City Film Festival.

Now, after a year of producing short films with steampunk themes, comedy, and an over abundance of puppets GuyLoki Films is turning its sights on the Superhero genre.  But we are not leaving our Steamtech roots behind, the entire rogues gallery of this film will be steampunk cyborgs, robots, and yes... puppets.

For example, meet our ever terrifying 'Robo-Butler'

Robo-Butler... the most dangerous 16 inches of brass and tuxedo you will ever meet.
Robo-Butler... the most dangerous 16 inches of brass and tuxedo you will ever meet.

There are a number of themes and practices that are important which we will be including in this film.  Strong roles for female characters, family friendly storytelling that still has weight, and entertaining adventures with unique characters.  Using these themes and our aesthetic desires we will fold the 'Secret Element' into the mix to create an original story and produce the whole thing in only 3 weeks.

What this means is that we are going to be rushing around attempting to construct sets, build costumes, and create a superhero filled world in short time with big aspirations.  Our team has experience working under time constraints, having participated in 8 different 48 Hour Film Projects and never being late to turn in a finished film.  Having ten fold more time means this film will be better, more polished, and all around more exciting than any of those before it.

What does your purchase support?

By purchasing a copy of this film you are providing us with the means necessary to follow the demands of the story and characters without compromising on the quality.  The proceeds from your purchase will go to paying location rental fees, insurance costs, craft services, as well as materials for prop and costume construction.

Costumes and sets like these! No really, this is a still from this very film.
Costumes and sets like these! No really, this is a still from this very film.

But most importantly, it will allow us to pay the hard working individuals involved in the project so that they can afford to continue to make good works like this one.  All too often people volunteer to help on projects like this and are forced to treat it as a hobby and not as a profession.  This step helps make a more professional product as well as supporting not just this film company, but the skilled costume and scenic designers, actors, film makers, fight choreographers, and musicians who are bringing their talents to the project.  By supporting this project you are supporting all of those people.

What else have we done?

I am glad you asked that question.  Let me show you one of the award winning films we produced; last year's 21 day science fiction comedy, 'The Schlonburger Certainty Postulator'.

But hold on, I thought you said there are going to be puppets?

Right you are.  There are going to be two different kinds of puppets in this film, one you have already seen, Robo-Butler.  The other is a new kind of puppet using modern film technology and simple camera tricks combined with traditional stick and frame puppetry.  But you won't get to meet him until you see the movie.  In the meantime, why not enjoy some sock puppets, like those from the recent GuyLoki Films short 'The Story of Tinytopia'?

GuyLoki Films was established in early 2011 and has produced almost a dozen short films from that time.  They have screened (or are scheduled to screen) nationally at influential festivals such as:

The DC Shorts Festival - The largest audience driven short film festival in the United States

The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival - The longest running genre based film festival in the world.

South by South West Community Screenings - The huge music and film festival in Austin every year.

You are cool... one of the characters from the film will tell you so in a short video. Probably a villain. More fun if the bad guys think you are cool. Heroes like everyone, bad guys are selective (and more special effects intensive!) If you would like the shout out for someone else, or by another name just tell me. We can make that happen.

In addition to having a character give you a personal shout out (as the previous prize mentions), you will also get exclusive access to a digital download of the film when it is complete! Now don't just make copies and bit torrent it to everyone, I am trusting you here.

You know what, getting just a shout out is lame. At this level you get the digital download of the completed film... and one of the characters will deliver a message of up to 90 seconds in length for you in video form. This is great for sending a special greeting to a friend or loved one. Who doesn't want some sort of strange steampunk villain passing along a Happy Birthday or other fun an exciting message like 'Clean up your room'. (Message pending approval).

Get the shout out thank you from a supervillain, the digital download link, and inclusion in the credits as a Special Thanks. And special added bonus... rather than merely having some of the characters from this film deliver a message for you a cornucopia of GuyLoki Films puppets and characters will band together in a thank you song. (Quality of singing not guaranteed)

Now we are talking. You are an Associate Producer on the film and will be listed as such in the credits. This gives you major cool points and will make you more attractive to women/men (who find that attractive). You will get the thank you song, a digital download, and a handwritten personal letter from the writer/director thanking you for your participation and help in making this film a reality.

If you are in the Washington DC / Baltimore Metro area, I will come to your home or business location for a private party screening of the film that you helped make happen. I will bring cake to celebrate with you and up to 20 of your friends. (More friends can come at your discretion, but I won't have cake for them). I will also bring some of the props and puppets from the film with me so you can see how they work and how they were made. Each person in attendance (or the first 20) will receive a DVD copy of the film signed by the Director. This would also be a great experience for younger kids who might be interested in learning about film production and making some of their own some day.

    Estimated delivery: Oct 2012
