About this project

What is a gutter bunny, you ask? It is that cyclist you see cranking along the snowbanks every morning in January, huffing home sweating bullets in August, and pedaling off to work, come rain, shine and everything in between.(Urban Dictionary)

Our goal is to bring together communities across the globe by sharing in the experience of cycling throughout the cities of the world. We hope to inspire and encourage a dialogue utilizing cycling as an alternative mode of transportation.

This project weaves together video footage shot from the perspective of the urban cyclist to create an interactive experience. Any spectator may jump on the bike and pedal, which triggers the projection of this video, combined with motion graphics to paint a unique virtual landscape. The installation is also accompanied by a live DJ bringing home audio effects to create a complete experience. This allows the rider to transcend what it really is to be a Gutter Bunny.

The Gutter Bunny Project is being built from the ground up starting with a basic road bike frame and raw video footage. The money raised will go toward the costs of finishing the project by purchasing materials including bicycle parts and video projection equipment. Funds will also be utilized to "kickstart" our tour. We have booked exhibitions in Denver, Chicago, Santa Fe, Seattle and need your help to get there.
