Update #10: No zombies, but certainly a witch...
...as well as the seventh son of a seventh son, a failed saint, and a brief reference to a "time-traveling crab-ape the size of a hot-dog wagon." I'm blathering, of course, about a new short story up for ransom. It's called "7 and 7."
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gregstolze/7-and-7
It's a novella, and a sequel to my novel SWITCHFLIPPED. If you've read SWITCHFLIPPED, this simultaneously gives you a bit more backstory about the sinister Barbara Yaeger and a bit of conclusion to the story of the Thunder Saint. If you haven't read SWITCHFLIPPED, let me level with you: There will never be a better time. It's all explained at the link above, but the quick version is, if you pledge the price of the book -- either as an electronic file or its print edition -- you can get the book while you support this sequel novella. Take a look!

Update #9: ...and now for something completely different.
"Emily Speaks" is my current ransom-story. Here's the link to it, right here on Kickstarter. It's a change of pace from zombies, revolution, slave-beating and poison, that I'll freely admit. But it does have one important thing in common with "Zombis Blanc" and that is my willingness, as a writer, to see characters suffer. In "Emily Speaks," most of the people are pretty sympathetic, and the fate of a nation isn't at stake, and no one's murderous, and there aren't generations of race-torture to avenge. But damned if its near-future Americans don't manage to torment the hell out of each other, and themselves.
Take a look.

Update #8: A New Novel, In Print, Suspiciously Cheap
If you liked the rich characterization in "Zombis Blanc," my novel SWITCHFLIPPED pays the same in-depth attention, but in this case the characters are, by and large, a little less toxic than the slave-drivers of revolutionary Haiti, so you can hopefully stand to spend a whole novel with them. That doesn't mean SWITCHFLIPPED isn't barking mad with fiolence, but in this case I've also added sex and symbolic magic that really works. (If you're familiar with the other stories I've released for free using Kickstarter, it might remind you of "ENZYMES" or "A Long, Romantic Weekend.") Currently, it's available for e-readers, but I'm trying to fund a print version as well. If you'd like it as a bound and printed volume, now is the time to get it cheaper by pledging for it.
Thanks for your time and attention.

Update #7: Black Woodcut Violence Ahoy...
By which I mean, I've got another story up for ransom.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gregstolze/a-hole-in-the-darkness
Granted, the violence is only implied in the black woodcut, but the story itself has plenty. In addition to the gunplay and gut-punches, it has what may be the biggest guilt trip scene I've ever written. Just perfect for evoking the response, "Gee, I'm sure glad I'm not that guy." So if you like being glad, check out A Hole in the Darkness.
Hope you're interested!

Update #6: What New Horror Arises...?
If you enjoyed my ripe slice of historical Guignol, odds are good that you'll also like a story about dead and desperate Finnish coeds, best served cold. You can check out the fundraiser here.

Funding Successful
This project successfully raised its funding goal on September 17, 2010.
Pledge $2 or more Pledge $2 or more
Those who pledge $2.00 or more get a link to me reading the story in my deep, mellifluous voice. Perfect for late at night when you want to lie in bed staring at the ceiling and contemplating the evils of humanity!
Pledge $15 or more Pledge $15 or more
See that skull graphic? That's a hand-printed woodblock graphic on high quality paper. If you pledge $15 or more, I'll make you a print of your very own. I've got two black inks, the Sumi (pictured) which gives a nice texture, or Speedball, which produces a very flat, thick black. You pick. (If you want, I can do your skull in red, green or yellow Speedball too.)
