Update #9: A new project...

Posted on February 20

...that does for occult perception and drunken New Years' hookups what "Icke" did for teen angst and fish telepathy.  It's called "7 and 7" and it's being ransomed out right here on Kickstarter.

Update #8: "Emily Speaks," also about human isolation.

Posted on November 18, 2011

I've got another story up for pledges, and it's called "Emily Speaks."  Here's the link.  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gregstolze/emily-speaks-a-perpetual-short-story

If you liked "Icke's" unflinching look at isolation in the individual, "Emily Speaks" addresses the same theme from an entirely different angle.  Instead of focusing on one sad kid who's rejected for his flaws, "Emily Speaks" uses some ordinary people to display a kind of techno-isolated loneliness that's becoming more and more common in our mediated society.  (Yeah, I know.  I'm posting this on the internet.  I'm aware of the irony.)  It's not as violent as "Icke" by any means, but it's far more plausible.  The technological innovation at the core of the tale?  We could be dealing with it in a couple years.  Check it out.

Update #7: Heard any MORE about SWITCHFLIPPED?

Posted on October 16, 2011

"ICKE" works the poorly-demarcated barrier between the awfulness of everyday life and the awfulness of the monstrous unknown.  My new novel SWITCHFLIPPED is something of its antimatter twin, comparing the seductions and pleasures of an ordinary life with temptations of power and mystery.  (Though, as with most promises in my stories, this ends up with a price paid in violence, misery, and tartly-phrased jokes.) If you're familiar with the other stories I've released for free using Kickstarter, it might remind you of "ENZYMES" or "A Long, Romantic Weekend."  Currently, it's available for e-readers, but I'm trying to fund a print version as well.  If you'd like it as a bound and printed volume, now is the time to get it cheaper by pledging for it.

Thanks for your time and attention.

Update #6: New! From the Creator of "Icke"!

Posted on June 4, 2011

A Hole in the Darkness is hardboiled crime fiction, and it's up for ransom.

If you liked the way Icke was driven by helplessness and misery, you may enjoy the way A Hole in the Darkness is driven by empowerment and misery.

Hope you're interested!

Update #5: Lovecraft Keeps Calling Me...

Posted on October 29, 2010

Why can't horror writers leave that poor dead fellow alone? It's a question with no answer I know, other than to shrug and gesture mutely in the direction of my next fundraiser, for another piece inspired by HPL (and Finland, and the burgeoning trade in looted Babylonian artifacts)...
