About this project

Celebrating its 50th year this August 18-21, the Philadelphia Folk Festival (PFF) is the longest continuously running Festival of its kind in the country.  Help regional artists as they lead the charge to keep the PFF environmentally sustainable!

Todd Henkin from The Great Unknown joins green-friendly author Nic Esposito to introduce composting, solar powered staging, local/organic foods, and a host of new sustainability programs for all ages.  Sustainable Living Roadshow joins as our featured guests, traveling in a veggie oil bus and hosting workshops, education programs, and interactive games!  PA Horticultural Society leads plant identification in the Dulcimer Grove!

We need your help to raise funds to host these guests and carry out these programs at the Philadelphia Folk Festival this August in Upper Salford Township.  Composting will mean over 40% waste reduction.  Our sustainability programs will teach a new generation the importance of being eco-friendly.  Our menus will feature some seasonal foods from local farms.

Join PFF, local musicians, and a host of community activists in making the 50th Philadelphia Folk Festival the greenest Fest yet!

The Philadelphia Folksong Society was founded in 1957 by a small group of folk artists and enthusiasts. The organization has offered programs of presentation, engagement, and education throughout Greater Philadelphia and the nation. These programs present a cultural history of society and provide enjoyment to thousands of people of all ages. The Philadelphia Folksong Society has contributed to the preservation of a vast variety of musical styles and historical perspectives. PFS has acquired international recognition and local acclaim through popular programs such as The Philadelphia Folk Festival, , Spring Thing, and Cabin Fever Festival. Seasonal programming of workshops, community service programs, concerts, PFS Presents..., Sings, and the Odyssey of American Music programs serve a diverse range of participants-members in the community, volunteers, artists, students, partner organizations, and PFS members. PFS programs range in scope from a small group of friends singing together, to tens of thousands of patrons gathered for concert presentations. A network of thousands of dedicated volunteers has allowed PFS to execute these programs in an unprecedented way since the organization's inception over 50 years ago.
