Documenting our adventure as we explore our ancestry on the folkloric Isle of Man and through the haunted history of Muncaster Castle.
The Pennington family has owned Muncaster Castle for over 800 years. Muncaster has played a significant role in British history and is believed to be one of England's most haunted buildings.
In 1208, King John granted Alan de Penitone 23,000 acres of prime English countryside. 50 years and four Magna Cartas later, Muncaster was built to protect the north from marauding Scots. Eerie happenings and unexplained appearances have earned Muncaster a gruesome reputation.
Across the Irish Sea lies the Isle of Man -- a magical island rich in folklore and mystery. Perhaps the local faeries and gnomes will offer protection against the ghosts of Muncaster.
In May 2013, we are adventuring to England to climb our family tree. First stop will be the Isle of Man, from Graham's side of the family, where we will gather our magical protection before heading to Muncaster for some ghostbusting.
We are digging deep into Crisman's Pennington ancestry to write a book and record an album.
Our enhanced e-book will form a collection of essays exploring the history of the Pennington family and the mysteries of Muncaster Castle. The enhanced e-book and audio book feature original music and artwork to accompany the text.
Written and narrated by Crisman, illustrations and music by Graham, and featuring the musical talents of Dave Richards, our project is truly multi-media.

Aside from the psychological duress of staying overnight in the most haunted room in Muncaster Castle (and possibly facing ghosts bearing family resemblance), the logistics of carrying off such an adventure are great.
The full year of research leading up to our travels will require a considerable amount of time in genealogical, historical, and parapsychological preparation. Once overseas, we will have a full month of interviews to coordinate and carry out, plus field research complete with the pitfalls of two Californians backpacking through Europe.
While some rewards will be available ahead of the trip (May 2013), the majority of composition will take place while we are in England. Upon returning Stateside in July 2013, much time will be required to edit and produce the stories into an enhanced e-book. Your contributing funds will help us afford studio time to produce the audiobook, manufacture merchandise, plus the promotion and distribution upon publication (February 2014).
