About this project
Rats & Gassers: Kustom Kulture Takes A Ride documents the real hands on, underground fabricators and builders who are creating the next generation or Hot Rods, Rat Rods and Gassers, as well as the various Kustom Kulture folk that surround them and the scene. We go in their shops, meet them at the drag strip and see their creations close-up and intimate.
This is Director D.A. Sebasstian's third feature film and his first feature length documentary. Besides fronting the bands Kill Switch...Klick and D.A. Sebasstian & The Inner Demons, Sebasstian is a contributing writer for Ol' Skool Rodz, Car Kulture Deluxe, Gearhead Magazine, Munster Style and Rat Rod Magazine. He also created and produced the Seattle Public Access Show Go-Kustom TV, which aired to tens of thousands of viewers over its 5 season run. Sebasstian is also coordinating the music production as well as writing the original theme and soundtrack music.
Currently we have shot over 17 hours of interview and documentary footage for this film (with an estimated 10 more to go), including one on one interviews with builders, pinstripers, tattoo artists, photographers, writers and pin-up models (who pose in front of these cars). In fact we just documented an epic four car-four season-four model pin-up shoot that shows how these types of photo shoots are done. Spring and summer of 2012 we will finish filming with drag racing footage, driving and location filming.

Luckily I, D.A. Sebasstian the Director of this film, own all my own DV camera equipment and editing software, so I can make a very professional film for very little money. We need this money to press the DVDs (1,000 DVDs cost over $1,800 to make), rent a hall for the World Premiere, to pay for licensing of historic clips (one still of The Munster Coach alone costs over $300- and we hope to get clips from bigger films like Mad Max- which cost much more). Then there are the promotional costs to tell people about the film. My name is D.A. Sebasstian. I was born in 1964. I am an artist, film maker, sculptor, writer, inventor, television producer and musician. I started playing music full time in XIJIX (punk band) back in 1981. My current band Kill Switch...Klick (or KsK) was formed in 1991, has thirteen full length releases out and been featured on dozens of compilations. In the studio- I have remixed Gary Numan, Gene Loves Jezebel, Faith & Disease and Diamond Fist Werny and produced dozens of bands. I run Go-Kustom Rekords, Films & TV. Go-Kustom TV was on Seattle Cable Access for five seasons and featured various Kustom Kulture events and persons.
My first feature film Hot Rod Girls Save The World premiered in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania at the Backseat Film Festival and is now available on DVD. My second feature length film entitled Rat Rod Rockers! premiered at the Historic Everett Theater to a capacity 420 plus crowd in October 2010. It came out on DVD in 2011. I am currently in production with my first feature length documentary Rats & Gassers: Kustom Kultrue Takes A Ride.
I do all my own graphics and artwork for Go-Kustom. Occasionally I write for car magazines Car Kulture Deluxe, Ol Skool Rodz, rat Rod Magazine and Gearhead Magazine. I am an avid Mopar Guy with an affinity for 1966-67 Dodge Chargers and Cornets. Currently Chris Darland of Chris Garage is building a 1966 HEMI Charger for one of my next films (and me of course). I am married to a beautiful ballet dancer/drummer with two awesome kids.
