About this project
Dear ALL,
my name is Giulia and I am an italian photographer based in NYC since march 2007. After trying hard to find a gallery I have been offered a solo exhibition in New York City. The exhibition's name is "ON_MY_WAY" and it is made by a sequence of 22 pairs of images that describe my work.
ON_MY_WAY is entirely dedicated to my grandfather who inspired me and believed in my dreams since my childhood. It is a journey around the United States that tells stories I have seen first with my heart and than with my eyes. After working all these years as a photographer in NYC for concerts, runway shows, theater events and movie sets, an exhibition is the only thing left that would mean the world to me.
Well, as I am so close to make my dream come true I kindly ask for your support to cover some expenses such as print the pictures, frame them, print the invitations and books and promote the show...
"ON_MY_WAY was born four years ago on a airplane. Was born due a sentece found on a magazine and was born from the desire to cut off that page to take it with me.
ON_MY_WAY is nothing more than a mix of stories found on my way and froze in a image. What I truly wanted was that this portfolio could bring back my first way to take pictures, I truly wanted to have something to say again to people again and I wanted to wait for the right moment to do it.
First, I had to find the right combination of pictures and after few years, when I wasn’t really looking for it, inspiration came to me to remind me that I had these pictures and something to say…
I believe that ON_MY_WAY has grown up with me and has talked about places I have seen in these years and has given me the chance to feel alive.
It all started because of a sentence found in a magazine to remind me how lucky, important, happy and free we are for everything we have around and stare at every day but it also reminds me of not alone if we have the right eyes to watch things…
It was a sentence found in a magazine on a journey without destination but that left a mark throughtout these years. A magazine left on a seat that doesn’t miss that important page with a language of its own..
A magazine where once it was written inside: “You can’t have a favourite place until You have seen them all…”
I hope this description shows you a bit of who I am and how important ON_MY_WAY is to me..
