New York City based multi media artist Gio Black Peter makes a highly anticipated return with his sophomore music project “The Virgin Shuffle”, out February 2011.

Fusing low-fi electronic beats and pop hooks Gio Black Peter takes you on a dark, hallucinatory ride. The record consists of 7 genre defying pop-punk-rap dance tracks with menacing but melodic vocals. Catchy energetic tracks like “A-OK Gorilla”, “Flip Flopping” and the title track “The Virgin Shuffle” are sure to turn up the heat on dancefloors. The songs are addictive and make you want to dance but there is also an underlying story and raw message in Black Peters rappy narratives that grabs your attention and keeps you coming back. Black Peter explains “This album is about breaking even more rules. Challenging ideas and expectations of what we consider underground music and art.”

The opening track “Revolving Door (New F**k New York)” has Black Peter spitting out brutally honest lyrics like “I ‘ve never seen god but I’ve seen streets filled with dogs…in New York City there’s always a new f**k.” The song has already gained major internet buzz both for its lyrical content and explicit music video directed by Canadian filmmaker , Bruce LaBruce. Unexpected collaborations add to the eclectic sound on the record. GBP adds “ Most of the songs I wrote while touring with “It’s F**ked Up” with the exception of “The Virgin Shuffle” which I wrote while backpacking in Thaliand. On the road I met a lot of talented artists, musicians and Djs and I was inspired by their different styles and energy. Which probably explains why the sound in this new record is so hard to pin down. Which I like, because it keeps it fresh. I was lucky enough to collaborate with a couple of them. “Pope Sex” is a collaboration with the amazing Sean Bumgarner. “A-OK Gorilla” features vocals by fellow multi-media artist Brian Kenny. In Italy I met Strobo Monsters, and that’s how the pulsing synths colliding with crunchy guitars for “Don’t Tell Me Nothing” came about. We had fun while we worked together and that energy is there. I make music because I enjoy it and I have something to say. It’s easy as 1-2-3

Let's go back to the beginning; in 2008 Gio Black Peter (formerly known as Black Peter Group) established a name for himself in the underground club circuit, both in the US and the UK with his remarkable debut ep “It’s F**ked Up”. He quickly gained notability for his unique lyrics, catchy hooks and energetic performances borderlining on performance art. In 2009 “It’s F**ked Up” received extensive air play on college radio stations across the U.S. and was also featured on BBC Radio 1. Black Peter was interviewed by BBC Radio 1 DJ Kissy Sellout. Shortly after he was booked to perform three major U.K. music festivals; The Big Reunion Festival, 1234 Winter Offensive Festival and Secret Garden Party. He has also performed at TignesFest in France. Gio Black Peter has toured around the globe performing music and showcasing his artwork. He has performed in the US , U.K., Japan, Italy, Belgium, France, Norway, Spain, Finland and Germany.

In 2011, he is set to kick off a “Virgin Shuffle” tour across Europe.
