Have you ever experienced a choral concert that deeply moved you?

GHOSTLIGHT is a choral group that aims to do just that – to communicate the deepest, most meaningful thoughts and feelings through music. We not only believe that singing in a choir enhances one's personal growth, but also that performing and sharing our voices can inspire change in our listeners.

In New York City, where we have performed for people of all backgrounds and cultures, we have been fortunate to give some form of healing and transcendence to our audiences. We go beyond a concert-style performance. Within eclectic and varied repertoire, we alter our singing formations for different pieces, and ask for audience involvement and/or meditation. Our hope is to engage introspection and clarity in listeners, and to bring joy.

Outside New York, we have also had immense success. On our tour to Maine in July 2011, a reviewer wrote: "GHOSTLIGHT has all the characteristics of a world-class choir… it is simply one of the best vocal ensembles I have heard in a long time." 

Now we want to reach out into the world beyond our local audience, to go on tour internationally and engage in a full cultural exchange abroad. Our goal is to bring American choral culture to Germany, and to share our knowledge and passion with this international audience. We would like to perform with and learn from highly skilled, like-minded singers. One specialty we can bring is our exciting skill in choral improvisation. At the same time, we will deepen our understanding of the German language and choral traditions which is essential for our further development.

Tour Highlights

Our plan is to perform in six major cultural centers, among them 1000-year old Bamberg, Evelyn Troester's home town, and the cultural capital of Munich. As highlights of our cultural exchange, GHOSTLIGHT will be giving a special choral improvisation master class at the famous University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich on July 25th and will perform in a double choir concert with one of the best choirs in Bavaria on July 26th. In return, GHOSTLIGHT will host the spectacular Madrigal Choir of the Munich Conservatory of Music following our tour for the benefit of our local audience, including the German community here in New York.
