We have been working on an album/video project, called Office Politics as Usual. It is a project that incorporates rap music and comedy. The idea of it is that that there is a character that had a budding rap career, but didn’t have much of a future in the music world. He decided to use the money he made to put himself through school and went to get a normal office job. However, he still sees the world through the eyes of a rapper. This causes him to make songs about the mundane aspects of his existence that are much larger scale than they should be. The links to a few of the videos/songs from the project are below:

We believe this project represents three distinct groups: a growing population who grew up in the hip hop culture (late 20's and early 30's) that went on to become professionals in the workforce, those who live the “office “ lifestyle, and those who just enjoy a laugh.

 

Our goals with the project:

As artists, we are always looking for a new story to tell. We really enjoy making music and making people laugh. It is an amazingly positive side effect that we get to create something that people can relate to on a personal level.

 

This is the first of a series of conceptual character albums. The G Gekko project is part of an effort to confirm the idea that an artist can make great music about any subject matter, as long it is the “truth” of the character speaking it. Luckily for us, the idea of a guy rapping about his office is naturally funny.

 

 

What we will do with the money:

Your contribution will go toward:

-Cost of production/mastering of the rest of the album.

-Cost of production of 9 music videos (each song will have a corresponding music video).

-Cost of producing video sketches to promote the album and flesh out the G. Gekko story.

 Once complete the album will be sold on i-tunes and Amazon. It will also be made available for streaming via Spotify. We are about halfway done with the production of the album, so we are well on our way to completion
