GeoGebra on tablets. With your help, it is possible. Dynamic mathematics meets touchscreen.
We want to make GeoGebra available on the iPad & Android tablets. An html5 version of the software is already available and partly working on tablets without Java. But this is not enough, we want real iPad & Android Apps. A GeoGebra app free to download for everybody from the Apple AppStore resp. Google Play Store.
The reason why we want to keep the iPad & Android apps free is because GeoGebra itself is free and keeping it so we want it to be available for everyone. If we reach the desired 10,000 dollars, we can support the development.
After reaching the goal, we need approximately a month before we can start testing the first beta versions of the GeoGebra iPad & Android applications.
GeoGebra is free and multi-platform dynamic mathematics software for all levels of education that joins geometry, algebra, tables, graphing, statistics and calculus in one easy-to-use package. It has received several educational software awards in Europe and the USA.
In October 2011 GeoGebraTube, a new part of the website was introduced to the public. Since the start, we have more than 15000 materials uploaded on GeoGebraTube.
Since June 2012, a new web version (html5) of GeoGebra is available, even a Chrome Application with extra collaborative features, such as saving/storing and sharing .ggb files via Google Drive.
- Graphics, algebra and tables are connected and fully dynamic
- Easy-to-use interface, yet many powerful features
- Authoring tool to create interactive learning materials as web pages
- Available in many languages for our millions of users around the world Free and open source software
About the Kickstarter project
We ask for your donation and support, because we have big plans and many development projects are running in parallel. We just released the desktop version GeoGebra 4.2 with a new CAS view, and next year we plan to bring out version 5 with real 3D graphics. At the same time, our html5 web application will need to be improved and extended.
The GeoGebra iPad & Android Apps are another big project on our list. If we get the money, the developers get a big kick to speed up this project and can do even more :)
Many people have been asking us about GeoGebra Apps for iPad and Android. Since GeoGebra is a community based software project, we want to fulfill this wish of our community.
We started to investigate how to best create a GeoGebra app for the iPad and have found a way to build apps for both iPad & Android tablets based on the same GeoGebra source code. That's why every cent from this Kickstarter project will benefit the development of both an iPad and an Android App ;-)
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Since the screen of the iPhone and Android phones is quite small, we don't want an unusable application for phones. Maybe later we are going to release a phone optimized version too.
