Booh and Babbot in the Haunted House of Dracula in an adventure game being developed in Unity 3D.

I am developing a 3d adventure game in Unity 3d.  The game is called Booh and Babbot in the Haunted House of Dracula. The games finds its genesis in the horror comedies of the Thirty's and Forties that Laurel and Hardy and Abbot and Costello did.  The game is much like the adventure games from Sierra Online during the 1980's except for two important facts.  This game is played fro the first person POV and it is played in a continuous 3d world except for a couple of level transitions.  In this game the sense of wonder will be in exploring the 3d world the gamer is playing in.

The game will have objects to collect, puzzles to solve, and a villain to defeat, you just have to figure who that is.  Additionally there are some murders to solve, some zombies to avoid and a few vampires to vanquish.  Oh and there is a wedding to attend.

We need about $20,000 to finish the project, this will be used to purchase additional art work, a couple of Unity 3d Professional game engines, some equipment and to compensate and artist, a musician, a programmer,a and some armature actors, maybe.

Gift rewards range the gamete from credit in the game, to music CD's, the game itself, posters, screen savers and backgrounds from the game.  There is also a number of positions in the game for Personal/Professional messages in the game and there are a number of characters that can be personalized to a caricature of your choosing, as long as it is legal.

Kick starter as all or nothing and we have a 30 day window to achieve our goal, so if you can help please do.  Let others know about our project if you would.  My many thanks and good wishes to you.

A lot of the Detective's office came from the "Film Noir Detective Office for Poser" created by RPublishing.  This was paid for and includes use in a commercial venture.  To see more of what RPublishing has go to Rendorosity.

By the way there are three pieces of music included in the video, they are Horror, Spooky and Spooky2, they are Music by Alastair Cameron, you can visit his web site at www.cameronmusic.co.uk

FAQ

  • Most development engines are not geared to 3d adventure games, although Unity is great for first person shooter games.  While I was researching Unity 3D based on Jeffery's recommendation I found a book written by Sue Blackman, "Beginning 3D Game Development with Unity" that is specifically geared towards adventure games.  Most of what is in the book is applicable towards any type of game, but the structure of the book is geared to creating an old style adventure game in 3D.  So as an acknowledgement, thanks Sue.

  • The music is called the Funeral March of The Marionettes, it is in public domain, which is why I could us it.

  • The jerky motion is because of screen capture and the number of frames being recorded while I was stepping through the scene.

  • The empty rooms is because the level is still a work in progress.

  • KickStarter has you set a goal, I set one for $20,000 to be pledged within 30 days. That will be enough to let me focus full time on finishing the game and purchase artwork for some of the other levels.
