Update #8: Austin Chronicle Review + last chance!

Posted on February 10

Hello all!

A quick update to let you all know that 'Pressure' received a great review from Austin Chronicle Arts Critic, Wayne Allan Brenner. Thank you, Brenner!

Also, this is your last chance to see the show, if you have not already!

Gallery hours are Saturday and Wednesday, 12-5 pm through FEBRUARY 15 at the Pump Project Art Complex in East Austin.

My deepest thanks for seeing this project through.

As ever,

Brooke

Update #7: Success!

Posted on January 26

Thanks to all of you, a fair amount of will and determination and no major set backs, the opening for 'Pressure' was a success! Over 300 people showed up to celebrate and experience the installation this past Saturday. I've attached pictures from the opening below, taken by my talented photographer friend, Cecily Johnson.

If you have not had the chance to come see the show, it will be up through FEBRUARY 15th at the Pump Project Art Complex (702 Shady Lane, Austin, 78702).

Debra Broz (PPAC Director) will host an ARTIST TALK on February 4th at 2 pm, if you would like to come hear first hand about the installation and the concept behind the work, please come.

I'm beginning to fulfill rewards, so if you have one coming, be on the look out for your special something.

Thank you again for all of your amazing support!

 Brooke

Update #5: Taking form!

Posted on January 8

A huge thanks to my arty friends Mandy, Colleen, J, Joelle, Kyle, and Maisha, who came out last night to help move the giant hoop skirt from my studio to the main gallery and stuck around to get messy with us!

The initial steam form is now hoisted into the rafters, we have a hole in the gallery wall, and have a paler version of a Curtis Mathis TV console. Mike, is my absolute hero for helping me with the bracing and pully system, taking down the blades of the Big Ass Fan and generally being such an incredibly supportive person in my life.

I also owe a huge amount of gratitude to photographer Cecily Johnson and filmaker Margaritte Knezek for filming with me. They were rockstars to lean over my bathtub under blue lights to capture video of a drip and other mysterious footage. What a great crew they are!

The show is taking form and I cannot wait to share it with all of you on Jan 21st!

As ever,

Brooke

Update #4: The studio is pumpin'!

Posted on January 5

Happy New Year!

We are busy over here transforming the Pump Project Art Complex into another world. We are creating paper mache balls and turning them into steam formations, hanging forms from the rafters, filming and editing video, testing projectors, painting, covering objects with wax and sending out press releases to prepare for a fantastic show right around the corner on the 21st!

Please mark your calendars and tell your friends about the exhibition opening:

January 21st, 6-9 pm with Ephraim Owens and jazz trio going on at 7 pm.

Pump Project Art Complex, 702 Shady Lane, Austin, TX 78702

The show will run from January 21- February 15. Gallery hours are Wednesday and Saturday from noon until 5 pm.

We have covered most media outlets in Austin, but if you have any ideas for spreading the word or feel inclined to post on facebook, we would love your help.

Thank you immensely for your support!

All my best,

Brooke
