About this project
We want to throw a party!
More specifically, we need funds to help facilitate an exhibit/reception for GameSave, a Hack-A-Thon style competition for teams of game devs who are tasked with creating working demos for games that teach and train people in emergency relief and disaster mitigation techniques.
Our usual projects are things we either fund out of our own pockets, or for which we have corporate sponsors. However, this time, we wanted to create an event which would celebrate the hard work of our participants and volunteers, and the community we've all worked hard to create.
We'll be showing the finished projects, handing out awards, and stuffing our guests with tasty foods. Because our entire organization is community-based, we wanted the celebration of that community to be community-produced!
The funds donated to this project will first and foremost go towards covering the cost of our venue, as well as refreshments for the attendees and volunteers. We'll have the obligatory a/v needs (sound system, projection, computer networks, etc). We also need to set up demonstration environments for each entry. While we want to keep printed material to a minimum in the interest of environmental concerns, some information and signage honoring our sponsors will be necessary. And there will be some costs associated with the backer rewards, of course!
And in the blessed event that we have a surplus, let's just say that all of our guests will benefit from some serious snack upgrades!
The benefit will take place in early July. We will post exact dates as soon as we have final confirmation!
