Congrats Lindsay. I saw Alyse's comment and I think you should stay small and not branch out until you feel comfortable with expanding. Franchising can be a nightmare (mentally and financially) if it is not done properly.

This is such a fantastic idea! In NYC, I always see kids out on the street paying soooo much money for ice cream and snow cones that I know is not good for them, but they just want to stay cool! Do you have any plans to branch out to other cities in the future?

This is a fabulous idea. I have 4 snowcone loving kids and live in New Orleans, where "snowballs" are a huge tradition, but I find the syrupy sweet synthetic ones disgusting. If you get to the point of expanding or franchising, let me know! Really, really awesome and I wish you the best. :) Heather

I love the idea of expanding in the future. But for various reasons, I try to keep FTF trips close to home right now. The main reasons, and the driving forces behind Kickstarter:
A. I'm new at this, so I'm learning alot...
B. I only have the one trailer.
C. the trailer is from 1957, so I try to be delicate with her
D. currently I can only be in one place at a time
But I LOVE the idea of having FTF in other cities some day...all the more reason to spread the word about Kickstarter!!! If I receive anything over our goal, it is most certainly going straight back into the business to grow and expand! Starting with the vintage ice cream truck in my back yard. I bought it...just don't have the funds to fix it up yet.

Lindsey - My 12 year old son just asked me yesterday if we could start an all natural shaved ice stand. We frequent a store in our local community that has some wonderful shaved ice, but since I am vegan and 70% raw, I do not get to enjoy it. When I go i get plain ice. Some people think I am crazy, but I enjoy sitting there with the kids munching on ... well... water. Anyway, I just happened to be scrolling through this site and your project came up. It's not a coincidence because this is only the second time I have come to this site. It was perfect timing and meant to be...
Since my son just asked me about this project. I am beginning to research the costs of getting the machines, licenses, etc here in California. I just wanted to say thank you for your enthusiasm and I wish you all the luck.

I actually use an ice shaver...just fell in love with the words 'snow cone'...but you're a purist...you know the difference. :) I have used a few of your flavors listed in Daredevil Specials: mango & black sesame, coconut & vanilla bean, honey guava...but I LOVE when people give me more ideas. I will add you other ideas to my master list.
you should look into creating some natural/organic hawaiian shave ice flavors! lilikoi (passion fruit), guava, lychee, mango, haupia (like a creamy coconut flavor) and li hing mui (that one might be hard to do organically...) are local favorites. you've got a hawaiian girl in NYC backing your project and hoping you explore this idea a little bit further! shave ice has always been far superior to snow cones in my opinion, but you've got an opportunity to do something awesome that rivals my hometown's traditional treat!
Not anywhere near Kansas City, but this looks like such a neat project! I love shaved ice, and it does bother me that the typical topping is just corn syrup, fake flavors and food coloring! Your flavors sound yummy, lime and mint would be right up my alley (I love mojitos!).
