Multi-award winning writer/director Frank Kelly was born, and lives, in Drogheda, County Louth in Ireland. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Animation Production from Ballyfermot College Dublin (Whose alumni include many Oscar winning filmmakers)
In 2005 he set up Pale Stone Productions Limited with Thomas Kennedy. Together they co-wrote and directed 'Emily's Song' in 2006. The film went on to screen at over 30 International Film Festivals, win the 2006 Crystal Heart Award, the Unicef UK Award and received a Special Mention at the prestigious Oberhausen Short Film Festival and has has been broadcast on national television, including RTE in Ireland and Channel 4 in the UK.
Frank wrote and directed the no-budget short documentary entitled 'Bill, For Short' in 2008. It was officially selected for the 2008 Heartland Film Festival and nominated for Best Documentary at the 2009 Heart of Gold Film Festival in Australia. It was also featured on RTE’s 'Nationwide' show that year and is distributed by Network Ireland Television.
'Slan agus Beannacht’ was shot in April of 2009, and again featured on Nationwide that same year. It was broadcast on RTE last year.
Frank’s latest film, '140', a feature length experimental documentary inspired by Twitter, had its World Premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California at the end of April 2010, and has screened at Hatch Fest, Downtown Film Fest Los Angeles and the Heartland Film Festival. It had it's European premiere at the Irish Film Institute in October of 2010 and has recently won the Bronze Palm Award from the Mexico International Film Festival.
Frank continues to work on several projects, with two new short film, 'Raise My Hands' currently touring festivals.
He has recently completed production on his first dramatic feature film, Derelict and is currently editing. As well as developing his next project.
