Thank you so much for checking out our Kickstarter page for our new short film, FORGOTTEN DETROIT!
The story centers around Ben Riesen, a young therapist at the Glenview Hills Retirement Home in Detroit, MI. Still reeling from a break up he should've brushed off months ago, he trudges to work at the inadequately staffed retirement home for patients in the late stages of Alzheimer's disease. One morning, one of his patients goes missing from the home, and Ben must search through the ruins of Detroit as she follows memories long faded. But as he stumbles upon her, his own troubles with women take center stage. Lost in a rotting factory, as well as his patient Gracie's memories, Ben starts to wonder if it's worth being stuck in the past...
Excited? So are we! Director and Artist Rick Boven (who you might know as one half of eccentric Chicago Publisher Nan Bu Nan Books) had a goal to tell this story in two ways; both a graphic novel and a short film. The Graphic Novel is coming along well, but the short film needs a bit more financial attention to make a reality. Being veterans of shoestring budgets, and after putting up thousands of dollars out of pocket already, we need at least $6,000 to begin filming. How will the money be used?
- RENTALS: Lights, Cameras, and other Grip and Electric gear.
- LOCATIONS: Unique and Detroit, unlike any other place in the world.
- FOOD: Cast and Crew already kind enough to donate time.
ANYTHING OVER 6,000 WILL GO DIRECTLY INTO IMPROVING THESE AREAS!
Who's involved with the film? Our Cast and Crew reads like a who's who of up and coming Michigan artists and filmmakers:
We've got some fantastic prizes and bonuses ranging from DVD's of our past films, eBooks, and Graphic Novels. And in case you didn't notice in our video, we kind of like to just give stuff away. I'm sure they'll be even more stuff not listed here that we'll send off to our backers. Because we appreciate you. If you have a minute, check out our previous short film 'I HATE CHICAGO: In The Gutter with Nick Vandermolen' below:
