Update #4: The Rundown for Minisode #12

Posted on August 27, 2010

The Rundown for Minisode #12

We’re gearing for Monday’s shoot in Hoboken and I’m more than just a little bit excited. Andrew Stoute (co-writer) and I have spent a couple week s on this script just trying to get it right. After all it’s got a lot of work to do, wrapping up the storylines from the minisodes and also serving as a BIG entry point into the series itself. We finally get to meet Marco, another character is revealed and we’re finally seeing the effects of some of the shenanigans that have been goign on. Unfortunately we don;t see any Shimmer Men but considerign their agenda, that’s probably a good thing. Anyway, here’s the rundown:

Maia Nicholson will be making her first appearance in the series since the trailer.

Tony Clomax (director of the webseries “12 Steps to Recoveyr”) will be playing the role of Adam

Rodney Reyes (director of webseries “Places Please”) will be playing Willy.

Cheyanne Racey will be taking up the role of an antagonist we’ve only hinted at

Josh Potter (stand up comedian and writer) will be bringing some of his VFX Makeup skill as well as playing a very special victim.

Mark Harris (director of “RPDM” and “The Lost Children”) will be lending us a hand on the crew side of things to make this production pop even more.

Big changes: For the first time since the trailer we will be shooting on the Canon 550D/T21. We’re going to save the HVX for specialized shots, and in this case the soft lenses and DOF of the T2i is the look that we’re trying to attain. We actually have full production gear available so my dolly shots will be making a huge reappearance as well as some steadicam shots. This is an extra long minisode and leads directly into the series so we’re going fully loaded as possible. The crew will be small as always, but I will have some support this time around.

I’m excited about this shoot since it’s the first one in NYC since the trailer and we have an awesome location thanks to my friend Chris Saunders. This one will rock your socks off and goes live in 2 weeks: September 8th.

Update #2: Marketing and Audience Building

Posted on August 10, 2010

For the past 8 weeks we've been building an audience and gauging the appeal of the series using social networking. We'd definitely love to expand out marketing efforts but right now, word of mouth is spreading about what we're doing. The minisodes have been crucial to this spread since people can see our style of storytelling... in the world of Dominion. Normally I would link to a complete film such as "Mirror Mirror" or "The Strange Days of Joey Davis" but being able to see the characters is kind of cool. Anyway, here are the site's we've set up to support the series.

Update #1: Promotional Minisodes

Posted on August 10, 2010

As part of our promotional efforts and audience building, we've filmed a number of 1 minute promotional pieces that I call "minisodes". These each offer an additional view into the world of Dominion and are voiced by our lead Sean Michael Field as "Jeremiah" giving rules on surviving in the business.

So far, we've distributed content wide over the internet and have been attracting fans and followers. Check us out and join us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/dominionseries

The minisodes were filmed in Toronto without any of the regular gear or crew handy.

This is the first minisode starring actor Robert Nolan

Additional Minisodes can be viewed on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/dominionseries
