Phase One (COMPLETE!): The album "And There Is Light" by Flutter was released as a digital download on March 14, 2010. A companion book "There Is Dark" written by the artist was released with the download in PDF form. Phase Two (WITH YOUR HELP!): promotion, marketing, tour, and music video series!
Flutter will continue creating music videos for each song on the album and put more money into marketing. Since the album is highly conceptual we would love to bring the story to life by a series of music videos that tell the story "There Is Dark." Also, we have plans to release an album of acoustic versions of songs from this album and hits from past releases, not to mention new songs too!
What your pledge will pay for, and examples of how much items generally cost:
1. targeted advertising - internet radio ads, print ads ($300-$500 each)
2. postcards for events and a general one for promotional purposes ($250 each)
3. a new mixer for music video editing and future audio recordings ($700)
4. radio promoter and a media publicist fees (marketing & promotion)
5. hair & makeup artist fees (music video series and tour/live performances)
6. fashion designer fees (music video series and tour/live performances)
7. miniature set designer fees for stop motion animation (music video series)
8. CD duplication for send-outs to magazines, industry professionals, radio DJs, music reviewers, bloggers, etc. and to sell at live performances ($2,000)
9. trademark filing fee ($300)
Why does Flutter need funding?
There is a lot of music out there and anyone can make an album. How does good music get the exposure it needs to be seen up front? a step above the rest? Realistically, to compete in the marketplace an artist needs more than $5,000 but this will give Flutter a great start, lifting our spirits to continue doing what we love.
Our (my husband and I) current financial situation doesn't allow for us to put much money into our art. When I was employed full-time I would always put any extra money (after paying the bills) into my art. Now I support myself whenever I can find freelance graphic design work. After paying the bills there is rarely, if any, money to put into art projects. My husband, being a graphic designer and videographer (and the composer of Flutter's music!), has also struggled with finding work or getting paid for work (ahhh... the challenge of being paid for one's art!), so your funding will lift our spirits as well as financial state. When we got married we put all of our wedding money into video and music equipment. Art is our life and we love funding it ourselves when we can but it has become difficult in the past couple years.

Christine Ingaldson has performed and recorded as Flutter since 1997. A natural performer, she sings her thoughts and fanciful stories for all lovers of life. As a child Christine studied classical piano, oboe, ballet, and voice. Her voice has graced a wide variety of recordings and live shows for other musicians and bands. Over the years she has released multiple albums, covers and rarities ranging from experimental ethereal to IDM, electro, techno, dance and trip hop. Flutter’s official discography includes "Molting" (2001), "Toys in Coin Machines" (2003), "Dolls Like Me" (2007), and now her most mature album to date "And There is Light" (2010).
Christine has allowed her talent as a vocalist, performer, lyricist and conceptual artist to expressively shine as she continues to evolve as an artist. Flutter’s live shows are multimedia in nature—using techniques such as shadow puppetry, synced background video, elaborate costuming, and guest musicians with organic instruments. Bringing a fresh sound, and enthusiastic vision, to fans of New Age "And There is Light" blends gorgeous filmic, inspirational trip hop music with thoughtful, lush vocals.
A short story, companion book titled "There is Dark," written by Christine furthers the fairytale feel of the release. It tells the tale of a woman who journies through life in search of her gift in which she generously gives to others. In Flutter’s song titled “Your Gift” she sings about “the faithful” whom she encourages to follow their dreams and discover their unique gift as a contribution. Christine hopes that her intention to inspire a rebirth of art will ripple out to the world and bring heartfelt art to all people. She believes creative expression is invaluable in healing the world during challenging times.
