Update #2: Eek!

Posted on February 8, 2010

Can't figure out how to upload the video on here, so for now you'll have to hop on over to YouTube to see it. I'll see if Kickstarter isn't a bit more cooperative tomorrow morning.

Update #1: Get this party started

Posted on February 6, 2010

There wasn't much fanfare as I launched the Kickstarter project for Fire Petal Books, other than the elation I felt as I hit the "launch project" button. But I have high hopes for this project—and especially the community involvement.

Today I'm planning to create a video that will show a little of what I'm planning, as well as tugging on the heartstrings just a bit.

I'm really excited about this and hope you will be too.

Connected as Michelle Witte (527 friends)

All my life I've been passionate about reading and writing, which has led to a career as a book editor, with stops along the way to report and edit for newspapers.

Now I want to turn that passion toward selling books and building a community of readers and writers. I plan to not only sell books in Fire Petal Books, but also to teach writing classes and offer freelance editorial services for writers.

For those requesting the rewards for query and manuscript critiques, here are my credentials:

Currently an editor with Gibbs Smith, a national nonfiction publisher that publishes, among many other things, children's activity books and kids cookbooks. I've been there 3 years.

Previously I spent 2 years working as a copyeditor (and for several months as a community reporter) with the Deseret Morning News.
